Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great find on our trip south. The public pools look fine and they are great value, but we opted for the private pool which average 40degrees, pretty warm for me. It was pleasant and private and the 20 minutes allowed was enough. We weren't given much information at the entrance so not sure if when you have used your 20 minute allocation in the private pool, can you then access the public one? And are the public ones cooler? I saw people swimming in one of them so maybe.

We paid $12 each for seniors for the private pool. It was very good, maybe a splash of paint in the private pool would be an idea. That charge also gives you access to the public pools. Lovely pools, will definitely be back.

We used a private pool, a bit expensive for only 20 minutes...which seemed to go by very fast. Looks a little rundown, so would recommend either giving it a better "rural" look or a hand of paint.
Don't know how the public pool is but is much cheaper and I think there is no time limit (but not sure).

Their online advertised pricing is outdated which they do not intend to update. When you go to pay you'll find it is more expensive than as advertised online. They will point to their little black board on reception desk which will show a more expensive price than the advertised online pricing. Trickery! Additionally, the private pool we had was unhygienic with hair and dirt floating in it. After many years of going there as a kid, it was a disappointing to come back to with my own family after many years.

I'm sorry to say we had a disturbing and upsetting experience here, with a manager of this facility falsely and aggressively accusing us of dishonesty. We were a group of two families. When we arrived, two of us were yet to come, so we bought tickets for a private pool for all of us, expecting the last two to join us when they arrived. When they did arrive, the staff at the front desk refused to let them join us in the private pool, though we had bought tickets for them, so they bought tickets for a second pool. The rest of us then joined them in the second pool, so we could all hav . e a soak together which had been our aim, and one of our party returned the key for the first pool, explained to the young woman then at the desk what was happening and offered to pay the difference of the cost of the second pool (which was one adult and two child tickets). The young woman said we could pay at the end. When we finished our time in the second pool, we came out to try the public pool, which was included in the tickets. At this point Tina, who we gather is a manager, was at the desk, and immediately started to yell at us, accusing us of trying to cheat her, saying we were "trying to get away" with not paying for the second pool, and saying we were not allowed to use the public pool we'd paid for. She continued to yell and abuse us, refusing to listen to any explanations or reason, including accusing us of bad parenting for the "example" we were setting our kids, and threatening not to let us change out of our togs before leaving though it was freezing outside.
We felt treated with mistrust, disrespect, and lack of dignity. We were not given an opportunity to put our point of view forward. We would not wish such an unpleasant encounter on anyone. I would recommend the AC Baths and Thermal Hot Pools in Taupō, it is cleaner, bigger and welcoming.

Kids enjoyed themselves but swam for only 45 mins in the public pool.
Facilities were OK, but dated. Staff were average and were bitching about a staff member named Heather (who sounds awful) when I came in.
Good stop off, the thermal walk is interesting too.
Pretty good value but definitely not a whole day activity.

We stopped by after a day of skiing. We had intended to stay no longer than an hour so that we'd have plenty of time to get back on the road. We opted for the private pool first which as $12pp for 20 minutes. You also had access to the public pools afterwards. I found the private pool to be on the hotter side and it was getting there close to the 20 minute mark. The outdoor pool was warm and more enjoyable for me. We ended up staying for a couple of hours but it was kinda worth it since it was so cheap and getting out would have been quite cold.
I did notice a path going beside the building but wasn't sure where it would go.

On a chilly rainy afternoon we decided to spontaneously take a trip to the pools. Friday afternoon, 3pm. Car park barely full. We paid for a private pool for the two of us and out little boy. $12 each for 20mins (toddler was free). Plenty available.
Great set up, changing room inside with your private pool. I always take flip flops, fluffy towel and a dressing gown when I swim, keeps you toasty warm when you get out and allows your feet to dry! Partially covered and partially open air which would be amazing on a clear night as you could sit on the steps and star gaze. It was raining for us but I liked it all the same!
This is a no frills DOC set up so don’t expect luxury, it does do what it says on the tin though and that’s a hot thermal pool to chillax in. Can’t comment on the main pool as we didn’t use it. Reception staff could be a little friendlier upon arrival but otherwise pleasant. You can purchase fish food to feed the trout that linger underneath the main bridge you cross from the car park.
All in all and great experience to add to our first family holiday to the snow ❄️

These pools are great, easy to find and good value. Getting a private pool is definitely worth the extra $4 (you can go in the public pool after anyway). The pools are a great temperature and the environment is very relaxed. It’s a local must do.

The baths are currently closed and clearly under renovation. The short walk (about 15 - 20 minutes) which is open and free is located just on the left of the bath facilities is well worth a visit. It has a clear circular path to walk on; keep track of young children and do not wander off the path.
