We reserved in advance for a private jacuzzi and sauna via Whatsapp to celebrate valentines day here. We took the day off of work, and drove one hour from our home to enjoy the day here. When we arrived, we discovered they had zero records of our reservation , and had in fact given away our spot to another customer.
They tried to offer us other packages, all of which were significant downgrades from our original reservation. Considering we had booked well in advance, and spoken directly with a receptionist to make our booking, This type of error is inexcusable.

I travelled to Antigua Guatemala for my daughter's wedding and three of us booked a day at the spa for the day following the wedding. What an amazing day we had! We arrived in the morning and after changing into our bathing suits did the thermal water circuit. The water experience was invigorating. We were monitored as to the times to be spent at each water location. Next was lunch. It was both healthy and delicious. After lunch we had the combined steam and hydrotherapy bath which was followed by a 50 minute relaxing massage. Our day ended with a fragrant coffee and cocoa treatment. We sat by the water before we left to have our herbal tea then headed back to Antigua. I felt like a new woman and exclaimed that I would travel back just to have this experience again. The staff were very helpful and contibuted to the whole pampered feeling. I would highly recommend this spa to anyone.

My wife and I went to the thermal springs and it was totally worth it! It's a little less than an hour away from Antigua via short cut (or twice as long if you have to go around through Guatemala City if truck breaks down on the short road). The place looks like something from a sand castle and Gaudi-esque structure with a gorgeous view of the mountains and volcanoes that is literally built into the mountainside. It was a beautiful day and we were immediately greeted with a menu of services/packages from which to choose. Honestly, way too many choices, but good for combining items a la carte as well, particularly since the website isn't very useful.
Our attendant was polite and explained the different springs' heats (104F, 75F, 98F, 83F) and time you needed to spend in each to maximize the relaxation and detoxification process. It typically takes about 1:15 minutes or so and about halfway through it, you are definitely thankful for a great smoothie.
After that, it was up to the massage room where you can select different fragrances depending on mood (sandalwood, basil, green tea, cinammon, lemon, etc.). After the waters, 25 minutes is more than enough!
Once thoroughly mashed up, it was up to the hot steam rooms, where another attendant brought us water (had to buy it, but there was free eucalyptus tea after) and took us up to a cement vault with two compartments (one for disrobing, the other was where the hot springs were flowing all over the place). Very cool and totally private and quiet.
If you do intend to go, you should consider going with another couple to defray the cost of getting there. Cab drivers can usually accomodate 4 people which definitely helps. Here's a few other things you should consider:
1)The services/treatments are a bit confusing, so make sure you plan ahead and are ready to change your treatment. Case in point, none of the packages tell you that towels aren't included (more of a cheap pain in the neck thing, but it'd be nice if they gave you one, given what you're spending).
2) Consider eating before you go. Aside from yummy smoothies, the cafeteria is more of a lunch room with nothing close to health to eat (burgers, fries, etc. only).
3) It can get crowded. The spa also has a pool area where families and loud children are splashing around. You can barely hear them by the pool and they are muffled from the baths, hot saunas and massage rooms. But you can hear them if you plan on hanging out by the pool after your massage.

We were pretty disappointed with our day here. The place doesn't look anything like the promotional photos. It has a public swimming pool area that shares lockers with the thermal pools. It was quite crowded and noisy when we were there -- it's very popular with the locals and close enough to Guate for people to make the trip. The thermal pools are small and were correspondingly full. With the volume of people that they get, water cleanliness is an issue. They have an English language spa package sheet for tourists with prices in USD that is much more expensive than just ordering 'a la carte' in Spanish and paying in Q. The massage was OK, but we could hear the kids having fun in the swimming pool from the massage room and better ones are available for the same price without leaving Antigua, which is where we originated. On the positive side, staff were friendly and numerous and your fellow soakers, typical of Guatemala, are quite amiable and eagerly conversed with me despite my awful Spanish. We were expecting a quiet, relaxing, hot soak/massage experience and that isn't really what you get at Santa Teresita. If you are a serious hot soaker, I suggest Fuentes Georginas outside Xela. If you want a relaxing/healing massage and spa experience, there a several places in Antigua that offer a more traditional spa ambience.

My wife and I were completing a 5-day tour of Guatemala with Gate 1 Travel when we decided to go to Santa Teresita Thermal Bath for a full-day SPA. Everything was organized through the Internet before leaving Canada and all worked perfectly. For about $75US including transportation from our hotel in Guatemala City, we received a thermal circuit, a massage for two (1 hour), clay bath (1 hour), a full-body coffee scub, chocolate wrap and some more treatments. The staff was amazing, the decor was very beautiful and relaxing. We didn't try the restaurant but the menu offered several fares with both local and international dishes at a very reasonable prices. The construction of an on-site hotel is in the plan for the near future and we will be one of their first clients.... :o))

I loved this place. I was traveling with some of my friends and we heard Santa Teresita Spa was really nice so we decided to go there and see it for our selves. The moment we got there a friendly lady greeted us at the entrance and then we went to the pools which by the way are filled with volcano thermal water!!! (amazing isn't it??). Then I took a massage and it was so relaxing. They used coffee mud and an essence that smelled deliciously. After that we went to the restaurant and the food was delicious, I even tried a new dessert I have never seen before in my life and my experience was Amazing!:. We are planning on going back to visit this place and I always tell people to go there.

If you do nothing else in Guatemala do this.
Do not believe the cruise ships, they frightened people by telling them that Guatemala is not safe to do things on their own. We were told that the taxis always break down and if we went out on our own the chances were that we wouldn’t get back to the ship on time, this is utter rubbish.
We got off the cruise ship and went to the taxi rank, most of the cabs did not have work because of the ships attitude. The hot springs are not a destination usually asked for, so go whilst they are a relatively unknown gem. We were two couples and we negotiated a fair of eighty dollars between us for the cab, our driver did a good job so we decided to pay him a hundred dollars.
The hot springs are about fifty minutes’ drive from the port, our driver brought along a female escort with him, apparently that is a local rule that they have, so I do not know where the ship gets it’s information because it felt and was as safe as you could be.
The complex has recently undergone refurbishment and is part of a hotel, restaurant and spa. There are several pools all of different temperatures. We all decided to take a package costing twenty seven dollars each, for that we were assigned a spa attendant to look after us. We got in to our bathing suits in the lovely clean changing rooms and we were then guided through a process of entering the different temperature pools in sequence for a specified amount of time in each. Our attendant was with us the whole time and she even provided free smoothies as part of the service. After one and a half hours we were left to enjoy the pools for as long as we wanted. Once we decided to get dressed we were escorted inside the building and were each given a facial. The finishing touch was being given a gift bag with a tee-shirt, a bottle of water and a packet of crisps.
If you want a fab day out do not hesitate to visit Banos hot springs.

I visited the spa with a friend after spending the morning hiking Pacaya Volcano. When we arrived, we purchased the most expensive package which was only about $90/person, a steal compared to spa treatments in the states. We first went in a round of the thermal waters, which was nice but a bit painful! The hot water was VERY hot and the cold VERY cold. They have a person that is supposed to be with you and 'guide' you however they talked to each other and were on their phones the whole time and I'm pretty sure we were forgotten about in the pools a couple times. We ordered two different smoothies, and were served the same one. Minor complaint. Then we had the steam room and bath. It was really not very nice, a cramped space and the tub was large but just a cement square and not comfortable at all. When I asked for more towels since the steam had made mine wet, the staff seemed annoyed. After, we wanted to eat since we hadn't had lunch yet, but they said no that we had services booked back to back. When checking in, we were given no choice about times of services. Who books four hours of services back to back without time to eat, especially having just come from a hike? The tour had been booked together, and there was no lunch included. I had to argue with about 4 different staff, who were clearly annoyed with me for wanting to eat and making them do extra work to rearrange our treatment times. They tried telling me I could have a half hour massage instead so I would have a half hour to eat. Although I had PAID for an hour massage. Finally they rearranged them, after I had argued and argued and was all stressed out. So much for a relaxing experience. The massage however, was wonderful, as was the coffee and chocolate body scrub afterwards. It was very oil for my skin, but felt nice. There are showers to rinse off with, but no soap, no shampoo, no bath mats even or extra towels in the showers. The other showers down below near the pools, also had no soap or shampoo. For people used to spas in the US, this is nothing like it. Do no expect even the basics like soap, it will not be there. For the price however, this is not bad. It would have been nice to know however so I could bring my own soap/shampoo with me. For a spa these things should be basic. Overall the experience was a bit frustrating. I would not go back again.

Dear Customer.
Our team regrets that we were not able to exceed or this time even match your expectations during your recent stay.
We investigated what happened, and we have realized that the services your request, was made through a tour operator who never made the reservation or confirm your services. This is why the services were desynchronized. When a customer confirms a package with Pacaya Volcano Tour and Day Spa in Santa Teresita, we take the time to prepare and serve the best we can to our customers. The tour must begin at 6:00 a.m. and you start at 7:30 a.m.
Your review and comments are carefully reviewed and help us to take the necessary steps to correct these issues.
Please accept our apologies and be certain that we will take all the steps for these issues to be resolved.

My daughter and I just returned from a 10 day visit to Antigua. I planned for us to go on our first day to recouperate from our travels.. I would advise advance reservations as the spa treatments (Kawilal Spa) are by appointment while the thermal circuit and pools are not.
We did the whole package, from the thermal circuit, the private steamroom and bath, the cocoa and chocolate wrap, to the relaxing massage. Also had time to enjoy the beautiful surroundings on nice hardwood chaises which are all about. We booked round trip transportation from our homestay in Antigua through the spa and it all went off without a hitch.
We also wanted to also climb the volcano Picaya, and based on our wonderful first experience, we decided to arrange this through Santa Teresita as well so that we could have a nice relaxing afternoon. Round trip transportation, a private guide up the volcano, a nice boxed lunch, the thermal circuit, pools and a smoothie came to $70 pp. I added a massage which i think was just over $20. On the ride home they also provide water and a snack.
On a practical point, there is an excellent secure area for your things which are carefully attended to during your activites. Bring a one piece swimsuit, flip flops and sunscreen. We were provided with towels and a robe with our package. The website has all the information on packages and treatments.
This is a very attractive spot with cheerful professional staff. The email correspondence that I had was flawless and in English. Once there the staff, unsuprisingly speaks.. Spanish. This is not a tourist trap, if it were the prices would be much higher (as they are in Antigua). It was lovely to see so many local families there enjoying themselves. People could not have been nicer and it feels like the kind of authentic experience that is often sought out by travelers.
Go and Enjoy!

We wanted to visit a hotspring near Antigua . . . Sta Teresita has a bus that will pick you up and take you back to Antigua. The spa is quite developed; if you want hot water sign up for the "thermal circuit." If you only pay for admission to the "piscinas" the water is warm but not hot. We were very well taken care of: smoothies, massages, a private hour in a steam room with a tub for hot or cold water (your choice). Staff was very responsive, and the restaurant food was good too.

Hello, are the shuttles from Antigua, Only on Wednesdays? Where can we find info on package costs and what is the cost for children?
Written 3 May 2018
I contacted them for you, they only offer the shuttle from Antigua on Wednesdays, the thermal circuit package is the best. Their massages are great, go for at least 90 min massage. Their website has the information. They said to email them for assistance in English and it will not let me post links so I will separate, just put everything together: (at sign spelled)
