Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This memorial was set up near the spot where the tank was first used, by the British. It's right at the side of the road and there is a spot to pull into if you're driving. There are four miniature tanks on the memorial which I quite liked. It's important to remember all those who served in these machines. Having been in a WW1 vehicle at the Bovington tank museum I can only imagine what it was like to be in one at the Somme.

The Tank Corps Memorial is another lovely memorial, this time to the Tank Corps. Tanks were introduced into the war on the 15th of September, 1916, as part of the Battle of the Somme. Unfortunately many of these tanks broke down very quickly and hindered rather than help in the battle. However some did actually do what they were meant to do! Later in the war more tanks were introduced that were better than the original versions. The Memorial commemorates those who used the tanks in this and other battles. Being there is quite a moving experience. This Memorial is conveniently located opposite the Windmill Memorial. Worth a visit if you are going that way.

A small memorial dedicated to the tankers who fought in the First World War. It will take you just a few minutes to stop and think about the use of this technology over 100 years ago and of the men who rode in them. Worth the short stop.

Just along the Bapaume-Albert road you find many tokens and monuments of the events, the huge battles of the Great War. To place this monument at the exact location where battle tanks were used for the very first time in recent history is a good service for the tank-freaks from all over the world.

Beside the main Albert-Bapaume road, at Pozieres, a singular monument to the bravery of men who fought in the first tanks, with scale models of early tanks.
Park carefully at the roadside.
Across the road from the Windmill Memorial, and near many other memorials and cemeteries.

Small memorial to tankers, many of whom perished, when the first tanks were used in this area over 100 years ago. The landscape has obviously changed alot since the war, but it's not hard to picture dozens of tanks trying to navigate a muddy nightmare on this hill.
Small pulloff lane available to park, and it's directly across from the windmill memorial site. Just be careful crossing the road as cars might not see you, or they might not stop.

Lovely memorial to the Tank Corps. Also looked the memorial on the other side of the road. one is the Australian memorial area, the one behind it is to the animals that served in the War as well.

This memorial is opposite the Windmill Memorial and could easily be overlooked.
A simple memorial to the machine that has changed warfare.

Walked around the site, read the information board, so helpful to read the history. A lovely stop. The gentle breeze is so nice but 100 + years ago it was a different story.

An excellent tribute to the Tank Corps. Well looked after as are all the war memorials. Very informative and emotional reading. Great for children to learn about the past. We only stopped by chance and so glad we did and pay our respects.
