Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My family and I have been going to Sandbar/Bushlands Caravan Park for years. We have seen some improvements since early last year when Wayne & Wendy took over. The park is very family friendly and the caretakers Wayne & Wendy only step in when people over step the mark and do not follow the rules and annoy other campers. It’s great when Mother Nature blesses the Lake with water and Celito beach is gorgeous. It’s a bit off the beaten track but I think that the beauty in it! Sunny autumn/winter days the park is spectacular camping at Bushlands sitting around a fire!

We have been holidaying at Sandbar for many years, however, we will not return till there is new management.
The managers think it is ok to drive and walk around the park intoxicated and abuse their guests for having a good time and this can start as early as 7pm telling guests turn music ect down.
A gate has now been put on the beach access road which must remain closed all day and locked at 9pm at night ( They expect you to pay $100 deposit for a key to OUR OWN beach and upon returning the key you will get $80 of YOUR money back ) so for people that like to go fishing ect at night forget it.
Everything is about money and it has taken over any judgment of letting guests have fun.
Sandbar is an absolutely beautiful place and it saddens me to say I won’t return.
Sandbar is now a concentration camp not a holiday park.
SHAME ON MANAGEMENT!

Quiet, picturesque, generous caravan site, amenities clean & fresh. Bushturkeys not a problem if you make your rubbish inaccessible. Ample 'dump sites', laundry, clothes lines for use. Easy booking online, great rates. Reception on arrival very pleasant. We will definitely be back (& bring family with us) 😊

It’s time the park had an updated amenities block, and the cabins rejuvenated. I’ve been going there for nearly 30 years and can’t see much difference from then to now. Beautiful location with many outdoor activities available.

Went recently. Not a great beach for driving. A lot of soft sand and people driving like jerks.
For beach driving go to Fraser Island not here.
The permit to have this fun is $40 for 30days. Which is expensive if you only wanted to do a day trip for a few hours.

nice to wqalk along and look at - don't swim! Too dangerous - especially when lake is opened and all the small fish pour out into the shark's mouths. Doesn't happen often but when it does , take the warning

Have to drive through a dirt track without reception first. Slow and bumpy. Risk of puncturing tires. Pass a couple caravan parks on the way. Finally park and walk on the sand, through grass and through vast sand area where there would be water otherwise.

We have camped in the Bushland camping many times over the years and nothing has changed,,, Yes it looks tired and yes it is outdated but it is Bushland camping with hot showers and toilet facilities on the beach and by the lake.
It is a brilliant location and it is great nothing has changed, Jumping pillows and swimming pools with slippery slides would not be right in a park that is named Bushland Camping.

Still a very native and untouched beach, we usually stay for a week or so at the sandbar tourist park which is so relaxing and uncrowded and take beautiful walks onto the serene beach.

Was told that smiths lake had recently been flushed and that the sandbar side was low/dry . Is that the case?

Are you legally allowed to ride a registered motor bike on the sand bar? Same deal with the permit? Thanks in advance!
Written 3 June 2018
Not sure about motor bikes or bycicles, but it would be hard to ride a bike in places ,as the sand is soft and deep in places.
you do need a permit to go onto the beach, that can be obtained at the camping ground at sandbar. road rules apply to bar.
access is over the hill, quite bumpy, but no problem.
definitely need a 4wd with low tire pressure of about 15PSI
then you wont get stuck. with bikes I think you may be walking in places
Written 3 June 2018
You just need a regular C class driver's licence. However, you will need 4 wheel drive (all terrain) vehicle. Also, there are only certain sections of the beach you are permitted to drive on. Driving on the lake foreshore is not permitted.
