This museum is only about 10 years old and has all the artefacts taken from the huaca at Sipan before the looters raided everything. 10 soles entry, you have to leave your cameras at the cloakroom. The first level about the history of the indigenous peoples is in Spanish and English but after that, there are no English translations -... More

It is one of the best museums in Peru. Here you can see all the objects made in gold and silver of the Lord of Sipan, the old Lord of Sipan. The great advance in the techniques of orfrebreria is very surprising, there are earmuffs, nose rings, bracelets, banners, headdresses, in gold all of them. There are also chaquiras of... More

Unless you know about the pre-Inca history of Peru, you don'y have an idea of how developed the Moche civilization was. Something totally different than visiting Cusco and Machu Picchu.

One of the best museums of S. America. Shows mainly how the tombs of the Sipan rulers were discovered with its impressive handcrafted givings at their burial. Museum seems to be well managed, excellent showcase of beautiful artifacts. We had an excellent tour guide in Spanish though (did not notice how well described things were in English). The museum is... More

I expected a bit mor after reading all those reviews and spend there at last 3-4 hours... but you actually can make it within one) Don't get me wrong I enjoyed every single moment in the place just it came out smaller than I thought. And by the way it was open on Monday (2nd January 2017) but it should... More

Take 2 hours to see everything, including the video. If you do not understand Spanish get an English speaking guide at the entrance, because 95% of the signs are only in Spanish.

This is an incredible museum, a little disappointed I couldn't take pictures, but I cranked up my mind pictures! Tombs, jewelry, outfits of the nobility, skeletons (perfect for Halloween), pottery (maybe the best I have seen), Photos of the discoveries. Guides are available in multiple languages, English, Spanish, French, who knows what others! Easy to get to from Chiclayo.

Lots of the pieces in the museum are truly impressive, pure gold and very well conserved. You can't miss this museum. Don't bother getting a taxi, as there are a few colectivos (mini-buses) from Chiclayo that stop nearby the museum, and they only cost 1.50 or 2 Soles (£0.30). Just say you want to get off near the museum. We... More

Of course neither in fame, weight, nor possibly in significance do these artifacts of a Lord(s) of Sipan in Peru equal the treasures of Tut. But, if you're in Peru and come to the realization that there are other things besides Macchu Picchu to know of, these are wondrous treasures in an excellent museum still run by the man who... More
