    THAT name
You have to do it don't you, you just have to. You can't visit that part of the world and not visit the fabled train station with, you know, THAT name. It was worth the look and facilities nearby were much more of a surprise. It wasn't tacky or tasteless, it all all very real and authentic. The town itself is criminally overlooked and it's a gem in it's own right.

    Good For A Photo Op
The station and the sign are a little tired looking and the car park is a battle through giant pot holes, coach parties and not enough car park spaces but that said it's something you have to do while in the area. My son loved having his picture taken under the sign. Good photo opportunities and a fun 10 minutes. There's a shop nearby which is fine and worth a visit but that's about it.

You just have to get a photo here dont you!
We you just have to visit here when in angelsey dont you and also take a photo of the sign! It is a railway station that of course you can use also but we were just visiting as touring around angelsey and called by here. There is a large gift shop and store next to it which we got some souveneirs and snacks from to snack on as we drove around.

Like most people we stopped for the name and the photo opportunity. Good fun and a unique tourist attraction. Good quality souvenir shop next to the train station selling a wide range of souvenirs.

It is so easy to get to, you do not need to actually catch a train at all, it is right on the A5. Plenty of parking. There is a very decent shop at the car park selling clothes, food, gifts and with an on site cafe. Actually the shop currently has some very good offers on and I ended up buying two shirts! As a 30 minute stop off, you can not knock it and you have the fun element of snapping the UK's longest place name (which sounds poetic and quite beautiful in Welsh).

Saturday 23rd July we were travelling to Holyhead Port, with some time to spare, taking a slight detour we visited this famous village where this station house is located.

It's name contains 58 characters and is:- Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch. It is the longest one-word place name in both the UK and in Europe. When translated into English it means "The Church of Mary in the hallow of the white hazel near the fierce whirlpool and the Church of Tysilio by the red cave".

It's shortened version, Llanfairpwll, is slightly less tongue twisting.

We parked up in the James Pringle Weavers car park by the Station and had a walk around.

This iconic station house building opened in 1848, it was initially the terminus of the line from Holyhead before the opening of the Britannia Bridge linking the mainland in 1850.

It was and restored by James Pringle Weavers in 1994. It is not open, however the station is still operational. The building itself is starting to look a bit jaded and in need of some TLC.

The station building gave visitors the sense of the elegance of train travel in the heyday of train travel.

It was well worth the slight detour and time taken to visit here.

There is no indoor waiting room, no ticket machine, it's a request stop, Platform 2 access is via a muddy path that a wheelchair or buggy would struggle with. People who give it a high rating clearly have never used a train before or know what a station is supposed to do. The bridge and the station building are good but you can't even get into the station building.

We visited the station at Llanfairpwll whilst visiting some sites on the island of Anglesey. We had purposefully come here as the station has a very long name and wanted some photos. We drove here and although the station has its own car park, we parked in the adjacent road not wanting to pay any car parking fees (or fines) for our short visit.
The interior of the station was closed on the day of our visit but access to the platforms was unrestricted. We took pictures of the long station name boards and also some short video attempting to pronounce the name in Welsh (probably unsuccessfully)!
Across the car park from the station building is a good-sized souvenir shop, and this is also worth a visit if you are here.

I’m not sure I would make a special trip for it, and there is not much to do in town, but the train station and village are both a must-see on any trip through North Wales. I have arrived here in the past by both train and car, and both are good for accessing the town center which is the main place to see (along with a nice nearby church). I suggest only spending an hour or two and heading onward. I once lived only a few miles down the road as a child while my Dad worked in the mines, so this was interesting and poignant to see once again, this time with my American wife. The nearby gift shop also has countless local and Welsh items for any budget and is worth a quick visit.

Out on a random drive and decided this was going to be our destination. Lovely drive and when we arrived it was later in the afternoon so it was very quiet. Went into the shop for a look around and to buy a couple of souvenirs and then back out to get a photo with the village name. The shop sells some quality things for some very good prices. You can buy all sort.
Recommended for anyone who just wants to get in the car and drive.

Definitely worth a quick visit if you are in the area, but definitely not an place to make your only stop. We called in after visiting Plas Newydd to get a photo.
It's a train station with a long name on the signpost that makes a good photo.
The tourist shop next to it along with a farm shop.
Now, the farm shop was the highlight - it has the most amazing flapjacks for sale in a pack of four. Second best flapjacks I've ever had (and I've had a lot!) - the best were nearby at Penrhyn Castle.
There is nothing else to see in the village.
