About
This picture-perfect beach is a must-see in northwestern Crete, known for its clear waters and the rocky landscapes that surround it. Here, you can relax by the shore and take in the scenic views, swim in the turquoise waters, canyon down the cliffs, or even sail the area on a boat tour to discover other gorgeous beaches. The beach gets busy during summer—reach early to snag a parking spot by the church of Agios Spyridon before hiking down to the beach. The path down is a bit steep, slippery and rocky, so wear a comfortable pair of shoes. – Tripadvisor

Went there on a Sunday and were kind of disappointed. Basically it is a beautiful piece of nature but this amount of visitors made this place really crowded. Access to parking place is easy but climbing down to the beach requires good footwear. Trip not suitable for little kids.
Water itself is ok. No snorkelling due to poor visibility under water.

The first thing you will see are rocks in the middle of the road. They are there to place under your wheels so that your car does not slide down the mountain!
Then you will notice that the path - well stone track - has no barriers or rails and has a vertical drop off.
I would suggest real shoes and not sandals for the descent and that if you have any fear of heights at all then avoid the long drive to this gorge. Any sort of disability or physical condition and I would recommend the boat tour directly to the beach below.
The beach is beautiful and scenery amazing, but the beach really only allows for about 20 sunbathers.

One of the most beautiful beaches! It makes no sense to come to Chania and not visit her!
The waters are incredibly blue like the Caribbean! The "path" that goes down to the beach, is not as difficult as we expected reading the reviews of the judges, but definitely you should wear shoes and not slippers, otherwise you may slip. I would not recommend it in any case to families with very young children, as it is dangerous to hold the child in your arms and go down the slope. Our 12&13 was not difficult at all, so you have an idea like other kids of the same age.
The climb, however, was much easier although at first it seemed more difficult because of the height, but it fooled you seeing the path through the beach, it was not so high and you climbed relatively easily. Equally positive in the rise from this alley, there was a chain (new) very well grabbed with special cliffs on the rocks, where it helped a lot and was clearly safer and faster.
I couldn't skip the beach mascot, the goats where they don't let literally anything fall down! If you don't want to be "disturbed" (but they are familiar with the world and don't mind but the bags with food) make sure you have some fruit for them too!
Please do not forget to take ice water and food with you, because there is no canteen but only 1km before you arrive by car over the beach. Also make sure to be there early because after 11 you will hardly find a place to put even in your bag! Umbrella if it has air does not stand and natural shade has minimal near the rocks only.

We approached the place early in the morning. The road to the beach was a bit tricky, but the bus driver seemed very confident. The duration of our travelling was about 30-40 minutes with a small bus not full with other tourists.

The view of the place is amazing. You need to make your way down to the beach through the cliffside. Not as hard as you think and climbing back is way easier, but you should keep your shoes on instead of your sandals.

The beach lies between two big cliffs and the water seemed more salty for me. If you were brave enough, you are able to jump off these rocks from three different spots.

Though the goats of the area are really friendly, you should keep your food in your backpack. They are very calm, you can pet them if you want.

The place is very crowded and some of the tourists are very rude with the animals.

It was one of our best activities, really recommended.

Amazing, secluded, potentially a bit perilous! Go early in the morning to avoid there being too many people, we got there at 11:30 and there were only 2 other blokes! The sunset is such that we were advised not to go in the late evening.

Really impressive, the walk down is over some pretty jagged terrain, be warned as other users have said.

Also be warned on the parking, scrapped the bumper on some dodgy bits - whoops!

A magnificent beach on Crete that is worth it! After going down a nice steep slope with nice turns, you still have to go down on somewhat dangerous "stairs" marked by a string which will not hold you in the event of a fall. The view up high is splendid, down below it’s even better! We couldn't swim there because the waves were too powerful (I didn't want to hit the rock walls) but it was so nice, there must have been 10 of us on this beach which is quite small.
Bring good shoes and water, there is nothing on site to hydrate.
For the return, nothing indicates where to go back up and the line is not necessarily visible, several people including us got a little lost. Little advice, the entrance to the "trail" which goes up is precisely indicated on Google map, this allowed us to find the path.
The descent and ascent takes around 10 minutes, taking your time so as not to fall, but it's definitely worth the cost!

Fab scenery! Great colours for "brochure's" pictures. But hard to get there, road with sharp turns, dangerous and it is normally crowded. The beach is very small. There was a "lovely" goat walking around who made us smile and was the funny anecdote until it started eating people's food and even pee on some girls towel.

It is a mate strip between the rocks, the beach is really very small, narrow and not even very long, to be shared with the large tourism that it attracts and with the real local inhabitants, the goats, who don't care about your towels laid out one next to the other and they pass over it, also leaving some souvenirs (lucky they do it in pellets).
The sea would also be wonderful, but it is really small. August and high season are probably the worst periods.
The more adventurous can enjoy diving by climbing on the rocks located towards the upper part.
The route down is quite uncomfortable, we were wearing sneakers and we had difficulty, because it slips, I saw people going down in flip flops: that's it. It's not that you can't do it, but it takes three times as long and you have to keep yourself well.
I also saw another route, both when we were going down and from below, but the central section is unsuitable for most people, unless you are Spider-Man and have hand luggage (backpacks, coolers, inflatables).
There are no refreshment points downstairs, so bring what you need, the only bar is well before the car park.
Small car park, it fills up quickly, then you have to park along the road and get off.
I honestly do not recommend visiting in July and August

The summit beach is north of Akrotiri, but from the parking lot it's a really rocky path down the cliff. Not for those who are afraid of high places. There are no services here, i.e. no garbage, supermarkets and toilets. There is a cafe on the upper slope, but after this there is also a steep serpentine road to the parking lot. You should also put a pebble under the car tire as a brake.
Goats eat your food, that is, when they go swimming, they go to the bags and grab what they can find. In the end, we competed for a bag of chips as to who it actually belongs to 😉
The water is extremely clear and has a wonderful color. Absolutely crazy place! Insta updates are done at a fast pace. The beach is suddenly deep. Bring your own shade and snacks. Sturdy shoes and a backpack, a difficult path with bags. From Hania during the high season, there are a few trips a day for a good couple of euros each way. I wouldn't have wanted to arrive with a rental car myself.

It is not as well known as the other famous beaches in the west of the island, however in my opinion it is on the list of places to absolutely visit. The view from above is magnificent, the small beach is enclosed between the rocks and to get there after parking (not a very large car park, at one hour you park along the sloping road), you have to go down a path for about 15 minutes. Not a trivial path but not difficult either, you don't need to be particularly athletic, but I don't recommend tackling it in slippers... Better to arrive early because it's crowded in the late morning and the space is what it is. Some very curious goats will surely visit you!
