We took relatives here and they were 'bowled over' by the palace. I had been before but it was good to hear another person's viewpoint. The thing that stands out is how well the National Trust for Scotland has reproduced the original contents of the building. As one person said "it feels as if the previous occupants have just got... Just wished I had more time to explore this beautiful 16th Century gem of a palace abbey and walled garden . The whole itself is a throwback to former times . Great day out

National Trust for Scotland guides like Michael transform a visit and make the day. He can run stories together seamlessly - not just the ones he must have to hand but things that just come up in conversation. He had us enthralled and quizzed by turn, wholly engaged. There is a children's trail on request in the shop. To get... More

Paid a visit to this stunning wee village at the west end of Fife. Steeped in history, albeit mostly local stuff where you can visit the famous Culross Palace (which isn't really a palace) and the equally historic Culross Abbey. Must say it is quite a walk uphill to the Abbey, there are limited car parking spaces there unlike the... More

This is a good way to experience some of the history of the area. The staff in the palace are very knowledgeable and are happy to give an interesting talk about the rooms you visit. There's several cards giving links to scenes from Outlander as you wander around. The gardens are quite something to see and even in October they... More

We discovered this little palace on a raining day, decided to go and explore. So glad we did, lots of interesting things to see and the guides were very knowledgeable. Don't wait until it's raining.

As NT members a visit to Fife would not have been right without a trip here. Fantastic old building in a village that takes you back in time, and with a mining history. One can see why it has been used in many films and TV series, it is perfect. Once again, well done National Trust.

Charged £10 per adult to visit an old house with nothing in it, think they just call it a palace to try get people to pay money to go see it but it's definitely not a palace!! Plenty of people around to take money and show you how to get in but no one around to tell you anything about... More
