Nice hike, unimpressive ruins, alone in winter

A one hour walk from Sougia harbour, through a nice gorge. Sougia closes almost totally in the winter, i wonder why, because i was hiking in a T shirt. I met noone, only goats.

After a delicious lunch at Sougia we decided to walk to Lissos. It's an energetic hike requiring good strong footwear with several accents and descents until you reach the beach just below Lissos. You can get the boat back but we wanted to walk back to enjoy the lovely views. Would highly recommend you do this walk but wear hiking... More

You can hike in (3 miles or so) or take a fishing boat from Sougia. Either way, do it! The hike is up through a stunning gorge, across the top of cliffs and down the other side. The trail is very well marked. The hike (despite what guidebooks say) is a bit challenging. Not good for kids, people with knee... More

We chose to walk here &back from Sougia. You can take the option of visiting by boat as a single or even return trip if the idea of walking both ways does not appeal. The path is initially shady in the trees &clearly marked.Plenty of directions are available on various websites. The gorge is absolutely stunning & so peaceful. The views... More

Nice quiet charming good vibes place to visit by boat. Beach is not so nice but you can go by boat to nearby areas. You should visit if you go to Sougia.

A spendid half-day hike when you are in Sougia. The ancien harbour tiself and its few ruins are located into a very pircturesque vale. There is water there and a possible water-taxi to take you back to SOugia if you do not feel hiking back (but it would be a pity not to).

We walked (as our first journey along the E4) from Paleochora to Sougia and stopped to have lunch on the beautiful beach here at Ancient Lissos. The ruins are not spectacular but (out of peak season) the beach and the setting just lovely. This is a good walk and took us with lunch 7 hours 42 mins' - we stopped... More

We started our hike from Sougia and ended at Paleochora - it is a long hike. But if you want to do just a Lissos gorge/Ancient City Lissos hike then it is easy enough. In high season start early to avoid the heat. We started at 7 A.M. (we did the hike in the begining of September) and it was... More
