The Rowlinson family have lived at Abbeywood since 1987, during which time they have made many improvements and additions to the gardens. The year starts in February with many varieties of Galanthus in Jane's Garden, followed by other Spring favourites, Erythroniums and Trilliums, to name but a few of her rare plants. The Main Garden is divided into separate areas. The formal layout gives way to naturalistic planting within. Early May starts with Tulips followed by Alliums and Camassia. Seasonal interest continues until around mid September - weather depending. The Christopher Lloyd inspired Exotic Garden, designed around the remnants of the old vegetable garden, is filled with Dahlias, Cannas, Banana and other tender perennials. These continue until the first frosts. The Young Arboretum is planted with rare evergreen and deciduous trees for year round interest. A 2km, wildlife walk incorporates the existing and new woodland on the 45 acre grounds.

Visited on a plant fare day so more crowded than usual. Good range of unusual plants in plant fare. Interesting and varied gardens, especially the prairie beds, recently established and now coming to their peak. These are worth a visit on their own but there...More

I am sorry you thought that the service was slow. I personally thought that particular day the service was good considering the huge amount of Visitors we had at the Plant Fair. Our service has improved each time we have a new Plant Fair.

...venue. Be it for a full blown wedding or a coffee stop. The staff are fabulous and the food is just lovely. And then there are the gardens to visit too. And in the summer months they really are a sight to see, just stunning.

I am afraid the service was not up to our normal standard because a Coach of 33 who we were expecting was quickly followed by a group of Ladies (16) arriving unexpectedly on a Mini Coach. In a short space we had 49 people arrive...More

This is a lovely garden and it gets better year by year - it is a tranquil space and overlooks rolling countryside. Well worth a visit coupled with a cup of tea and a piece of cake. what could be nicer.

The gardens were beautiful. It was interesting to see how they have developed over the times we have visited. We also enjoyed some delicious scones.

Enjoyed a walk around the gardens, despite the showery weather - including the vegetable/flower garden away from the main buildings. Then enjoyed a mid-afternoon tea and cake in the cafe conservatory. Waiter offered to bring us the password for the free wifi but never re-appeared.
