I've really taken Delamere Forest for granted over the years having grown up nearby and having visited so many times. But in later life I've really started to appreciate this wonderful huge forest that I have on my doorstop. It always feels busier these days,...More

Delamere Forest is a lovely, relaxing place to spend a leisurely afternoon walking around the lake. I’ll be going back to Go Ape – have done it in Grizedale and it was superb. The only problem with Delamere was the signposting; it was utterly abysmal...More

We camped right on the edge of the forest, apart from the abundance of midges / mosquitoes / horseflies that it contains, it was a pleasant walk. Did the Gruffalo trial with our daughter who amazingly didn't need carrying all the way round! If your...More

Love Delamere. Visited here as a child and still visit quite often. There are several walks, very relaxing in some areas. They have go ape which looks very fun too, walks of people of all abilities. Several car parking spaces however there is a fee....More

This was such a nice place for an afternoon stroll, is so peaceful. You will need to pay to car parking from the machine. We found the café by the train station was cheaper very nice food and coffee.

Take a blanket and sit under the trees. Alternatively, find a vacant picnic table.

I would suggest parking at the visitor centre and using the cafe there! Also walk wise I would try a walk around the lake and go earlier in the morning as it is a lot quieter!
