Hidden Zoo is a great place to go if you want to interact with animals rather than just look through bars. The animals we held and patted all looked healthy, happy and were treated well. There were a few in cages as well, small cages, and ideally animals wouldn't be in a cage at all but it is a zoo after all.
The staff were friendly and helpful and showed how to hold the animals. The price is cheap to enter, there's no extra charge to hold the animals, just an optional tip/donations box.
I would definitely recommend visiting this place!

Travelling with my 10 year old grand daughter who is a reptile lover so this place seemed ideal for a visit. She loved it! Lots of hands-on experience and enthusiastic employees who obviously are passionate about what they do.
It's a relatively small establishment and is definitely hidden! A small sign posted entrance, a short walk along some rice padis and there you are :-)
It seems they house a lot of rescue animals which includes a very naughty white monkey. But there are snakes and lizards of all shapes and sizes and tarantulas which I never expected to be so beautiful. Some fruit bats, some birds and some lovely civets that were bred there and which you can hold and pat.
Also a cafe onsite which gives a small discount because you have bought an entry ticket.
All in all an interesting way to spend an hour or two ... the 10 year old wanted to stay

I only found out about this zoo from our drivers facebook page while we were already in Bali. So we didn't have it on our itinerary. But found time to add it in
Was quite well set out. Just a small zoo, but that is good in the heat you wouldn't want to be walking around a zoo for hours
The animal petting towards the end was fun. Though we definitely did not want to hold a tarantula !!! Or the snake so our driver/guide held the snake
There were bats to be held and owls to be petted. These were not tethered, so could fly away at any time. You could see the staff taking good care of the animals.
Some of the animals were rescues

I went to this zoo on Friday at 12 a.m. with my mother and some friends. We were almost the only ones in the zoo, so we enjoyed the visit peacefully. The staff was kind and helpful. We took photos with a lot of animals. Some of them were : albino pythons, tarantulas, albino hedgehogs, owls, lizards and a rare yellow luak. I recommend you to come here if you plan a trip to bali!

This is a great zoo for anyone! We went with our 10 month old and he loved all the animals. The staff is amazing and are so helpful and encouraging while holding the animals. Definitely a different experience than the typical zoo. We would recommend this to anyone traveling to Bali, especially with kids!

Very small place but so worth it for the animal interaction / holding which is included in your normal entry fee . Small
Free gift upon entry , and free drink at the end of your visit.
Set in the beautiful rice paddy fields.
Very Lovely staff who weren’t pushy. Totally worth visiting!

Wonderful few hours here! Lovely small zoo which had the whole family fascinated. So incredible to be able to interact with so many animals! The staff were wonderful and so knowledgeable.
This will be something we all talk about for months to come, and some great photos to remember it by.

What a great little of the track place this is. Small but perfect for kids especially those that love to get up close to animals. The staff were so helpful. You’re able to hold many reptiles here including pythons, bats, lizards, spiders, birds. A must see for the family.

My visit to this "zoo" was disappointing and left me with serious concerns about the welfare of the animals. The enclosures are too small, with no resemblance to their natural environment or ability to express natural behaviors. It was disheartening to see how bare the cages were, with minimal effort made to provide stimulation or enrichment.
In one area, I noticed lizards overcrowded in a single tub, clearly uncomfortable with the lack of space. Some animals looked visibly unhealthy and even showed signs of injury, which was deeply concerning that this had not been addressed.
I was particularly uncomfortable with the way some animals were handled. Visitors were forcibly encouraged to interact with them, it felt unnatural, with little regard for whether the animals were comfortable. E.g. I witnessed staff repeatedly forcing a lizard onto a perch, despite its obvious attempts to get off, showing a complete lack of care for the animal's welfare.
Overall, my experience at said "zoo" was not a positive one. While I understand the appeal of seeing animals up close, the conditions here left me feeling uneasy.

Visited the Hidden Zoo today with family, including two small ones. What a great experience we all had. It’s small, well run and there is a variety of animals you can hold and pet. The keepers are all friendly and you can see they love the animals. The place is clean and a great place to visit. The restaurant on the way out is good too. You receive a discount voucher with your ticket and it’s a cool place overlooking rice fields where you can get a cold drink, coffee or something to eat. I would highly recommend to give this little zoo a visit.

Is there a place for lugguage? We would like to quickly show the mini zoo to our kid and move onto the next destination with our luggages.

Is there anywhere nearby for food such as lunch? Or best to drive to Ubud?
Written 23 May 2023
There is a little warung attached to the zoo you pass as you leave that overlooks the rice paddies. Your entry ticket entitles you to a discount at the place. We stopped and enjoyed a drink and light meal. It was clean, the food delicious and the staff very eager to please and friendly. We later enjoyed a late lunch at our favourite restaurant near Ubud called Teba Sari which is also in the rice paddies and we never miss an opportunity to eat at if up that way.
