Real test of golf on a great links course

Arrived just as the weather was relenting and so had the course virtually to ourselves. Received a nice welcome from Office and Professional. I am old and a 24 handicap but found the course great to play and in excellent condition after very heavy rain, and the Greens getting treated at the end of Summer. Great to play a real... More

This is a real test of golf and you know you have played when you enjoy your drink after the game. It was a bright and breezy day, typical links golf, course playing long and greens fast, it was dry and with no rain for over a week, surprised to see water in many of the bunkers, especially as some... If you want to play real golf, choose a top links course. Seaton Carew is unfashionable, being in the Teesside conurbation, with a dramatic industrial lanscape though sadly no seaviews. It is a proper links course; tough in the wind; brutal rough and all you would expect from the 6th oldest in England. We were lucky to play it on... More

Excellent reception from club house staff and prompt service with good food. The course was excellent playing the Brabazon course. Pity you didnt see the sea anywhere and industrial skyline made it different to the usual links course. However a severe test and some very interesting holes. Well worth a visit to this club which is the 10th oldest in... More

Good venue. Toilets very good and clean. One big down side, they ran out of John Smiths beer. How can a club run out of beer????

Spent a day here playing two rounds in September 2014. Weather was superb which made the experience more enjoyable. Tough course that only rewards good accurate play. It's quite easy to rack up some big numbers if you try to chase a score on any hole. The fairways and greens were immaculate. The rough was penal. Bunkers fair but shot costly if... More

Played here twice as part of a weeks golf with friends. Excellent links course with good greens, course not in great condition overall and shame about the views, however we all enjoyed it and the weather was fabulous!

The clubjhouse, though modern, has echoes of 1874, the year the club opened. It is the 6th oldest in England and an absolute gem of a links course. You could be picky and dislike the views of Billingham and Teesside but for us they created a dramatic effect. And when was the last time you aimed your drive at a... More

The clubhouse sits just in front of town with its classical links terrain. The layout is classical, too, with an outward and inward nine. They do have extra holes (18+) so there will be a 'course of the day' whereby the odd hole is missed. Signage between holes is poor, so take as much geographic advice from the ProShop before... An international class links course, made more difficult by prevailing winds. Well worth a visit, also good food available.
