This was a thoroughly enjoyable way to spend an hour or two. Visited on a crisp, sunny autumn day and the views from the castle were fantastic. It is worth purchasing a £3 guide book to put everything into perspective and to help you imagine...More

Visited here while on holiday in Pickering. We enjoyed exploring the grounds and reading the information boards. Interesting place, and the views of the surrounding countryside are very good from the towers. As we are members of English Heritage we did not have to pay.

Sadly this was closed when I visited and although open later, we couldn't return so only had the chance to walk the grounds and what remains of the moat. Striking building from the exterior and a commanding position over the surrounding town. Some lovely old...More

Yes, you can go round in a wheelchair, but there are some restrictions, and dogs are allowed if kept on a lead.

I have visited Pickering Castle many times, and have seen people with their dogs on the castle grounds, and always on a lead. So I am certain that it is allowed.
