    Behind the scenes
Our Scottish cousins booked this distillery tour for us which we thoroughly enjoyed! Our guide Ben was extremely knowledgeable about the process, engaging with the group and a wonderful host for the tastings at the end. Coming from Tennessee it was a homecoming of sorts knowing that some of the barrels used came from Jack Daniel’s. Ben answered my question before I asked about at which point in the distillery process does Deanston differ from other whiskies. Take the tour to find out the answer!

The Production Tour was amazing. Andy was very friendly and easy to talk to, we learned so much about the whisky distilling process and what makes Deanston special. The tastings were a delight. Would recommend this tour and the guide Andy to anyone!!

    Premier Tasting Experience
Did the Premier Tasting in the distillery. £50 to taste five different Deanston whisky’s, this was a great opportunity to sample high quality whisky that you wouldn’t normally get a chance to try. Alexander was an excellent guide & suggesting sampling with two or three drops of water, which I wouldn’t normally do enhanced the experience even more. Would thoroughly recommend this experience.

    Warehouse 4 Experience
One of the highlights of our trip to Scotland. We did the Warehouse 4 experience, and if you're into whisky and looking for something more than the standard "three ingredient" tour, would highly recommend it. Absolutely cracking whisky and great staff who know their stuff. Molly is an awesome addition to the team, Deanston need to get her on the whisky expo circuit, great audience engagement and fabulous knowledge of the brand.

    Highly recommended!
I live locally and took my brother and his girlfriend on the Warehouse 4 Tour - it was brilliant! We are whisky fans but not very knowledgable. Thankfully our guide, Thomas, was brilliant and gave us loads of information, shared great stories and answered lots of questions. He is very passionate and made it a great experience which I will definitely take other whisky fan friends to when they visit. Highly recommended - reasonable price, generous pouring, and left very satisfied.

    Distillery Tour & Tasting
A great distillery tour & tasting at Deanston this weekend for my partners birthday. A warm welcome and informative tour from Alexander. The tasting and whisky was fantastic! Easy public transport from Glasgow via Stirling direct to the distillery door.

    Amazing Experience!
My first time at a Whiskey Distillery, and it was awesome! Our host Thomas was really great … very knowledgeable and provided us with detailed information about the distillery and whiskey. The tasting of 3 different casks was the highlight of the tour … fantastic whiskey! I highly recommend this Distillery tour at Deanston … you will love it!

    Whisky God
Thomas you are a Whisky God! Our Warehouse 4 tour was fantastic! My wheelchair posed no issues and because we were the last slot, they allowed my husband and I(drivers) to join the group to listen and watch our family taste whisky as the cafe had closed. I don't like the smell or the taste of whisky, so believe me when I say, I was dumbfounded to find the tour as brilliant as I did. Thomas, aka Whisky God, answered all my questions(and I ask A LOT) and made my husband and I feel included whilst not partaking in the drinking. A bloody excellent experience one we all enjoyed and made a fantastic end to our hosting of friends. Excellent staff who are willing to accommodate in a friendly and jovial way. Thank you!!!

I went on the family tasting session which offers three full drams of the core range of the 12yo, Virgin Oak finish and the 18yo. We were led through the tasting process by the excellent Brian who also offered us snifters of other more rarer Deanston expressions. This resulted in the purchase of a rather tasty Calvados finished Deanston whisky, so whisky fiends beware!

Having a cafe for bored members of your party to relax in should be more prominently advertised on their website. A brilliant experience all round and one I'd recommend.

Did the Warehouse 4 tasting on a particularly quiet Monday last week. Brian was an engaging and informative guide through the drams on offer. Can't really comment on the format or the amount of time because I was the only one in the tasting! It did, however, make for an unhurried experience of three excellent Deanston whiskies. Brian and Gregor at the shop afterwards were happy to chat more about Deanston and offer more samples.

Can't comment on what it's like when the distillery is busier (or when the cafe is open), but based on my experience I'd definitely recommend.

Visited on route from Glasgow to Edinburgh. Unfortunately we found not do the warehouse tour we wanted to as we had our daughter with us. We therefore just called in at the shop/cafe and were very well looked after.

I was interested in the bourbon matured hand fill but there were no bottles/tasters left. So, they made my day by taking me to the warehouse (my wife and daughter stayed In the shop) and letting me try straight from the cask before bottling myself.

Little things like this....it just builds a bond with a distillery you don’t forget.

Well done Deanston!

Visited the distillery today with two French ladies, one of whom spoke no English. We were so disappointed to learn that we couldn’t book a tour and tasting in French, despite the fact that the lady we spoke to was French. They were so disappointed since I had assured them it would be very interesting and enjoyable. We weren’t even able to have something to eat as the restaurant was closed. At £25 per person I think this is a very poor show and not what the Scottish tourist business is about. I certainly won’t be taking visitors there in future.

Hi Anne, Thank you for your email and for taking the time to provide feedback on TripAdvisor. We are unable to offer tours in different languages as we welcome visitors from different parts of the world. Our French staff member has done tours in French in the past when the whole group spoke French. However, in the case of a group where different languages are spoken, the tour needs to be in English. We do have translation sheets in other languages which we offered to you and your friends during your visit. Our French tour guide at the time thought she could offer you a tour in French but after checking the bookings she realised this wasn’t possible due to other groups of people having booked the experience. With regards to the café, they are open 10am-4pm, Tuesdays to Sundays. They are closed on Mondays. During your visit around Midday on Friday, the café was open. We do appreciate your feedback regarding your experience with us and I hope the information we have provided above explains our situation. You are more than welcome to visit us again should you choose to do so. Yours sincerely, Jemma

We got more than we bargained for at this homely distillery. Andy, who conducted the tour was extremely knowledgeable and very amenable to all our questions. He then handed us over to Gordon who took us round the cask cellar and very kindly withdrew samples from our Tobermory ‘94 casks stored there. Brian conducted the premium whisky tasting which took us from the 18-year-old through Chronicles, Pinot Noir and oloroso cask finishes all the way to the Port Pipe. Excellent all round! Thank you to Ben and Jemma too!!

A lovely introduction into Whisky distilling by our host Brian, who was superb throughout, very knowledgeable and keen to answer any questions.

There was an added bonus of the history of the building, it's original use as a cotton mill and metamorphosis to a distillerry.

The tour was good value for money and finished of with a wee dram or two :)

The food in the cafe was exceptional, as was the on site shop.

Recommended.

The visit was another dream come true of mine. If you are a whisky head, then go for the warehouse tasting! Our guide Brian is a relaxed person with good knowledge. We had a good quality discussion.
We were not sure if there is a restaurant in the visitor centre, as the website does not say so, so this is to let you know THERE IS, and the food was delicious!
Deanston was my 16th distillery and sure one of the most interesting ones.
The distillery produces its own energy, they are ready to meet future sustainability limits

Despite turning up a day early for our appointment (completely our mistake), Brian managed to squeeze us in for the Highlands & Islands tasting. He reassured us that it was not an issue. He also gave us the rundown on the individual whiskies, without referring to any notes - very impressive! Extremely knowledgeable, welcoming and friendly. This distillery is not on the traditional whisky trail but is so worth a visit. Highly recommended!

After going via covid protocols we were shown by Brian to the tasting room. It was very personalised as we were the only visitors for this time slot. Our guide was very down to earth, friendly and knowledgable about the Distillery and its produce. 18 years old whisky hit home so we got £80 bottle. Brian also assisted us in the shop and advised about other products like glasses. It was genuine and not tourist factory feel. They do whisky which is not smoked, which is what we prefer. The tasting is 3 whiskies for £15 and what you don’t finish you can take home in the little bottles. Day before we have visited another distilery which was PowerPoint presentation and whisky was not that good so we have appreciated the difference.
