Would have hoped a town museum would be more focused on the town than anything else. The first room (about the town) was interesting, just pretty uncohesive and there were a lot of things there with no explanation to the importance or relevance to the...More

I read this place was quirky but that isn't the half of it. Where else can you find ship models, war memorabilia, stuffed puffins, old hairdryers, massive spiders (dead, don’t worry), a Victorian kitchen and a whole closetful of bats in formaldehyde? This place is...More

Inexpensive, very interesting, and a pleasure to visit. It looks like a small, local museum, but it is teeming with well laid out curiosities, and you could spend hours here. The staff are welcoming and very willing to offer any information.

A return visit as last time I was with a group that just whizzed through the museum and didn't do it the justice it deserves! I was allowed to take my Support Dog with me and was provided with a 'Talking Pen' that was suggested...More

Very wide selection of art and collectable 'things' and worthy of a half an hour at least especially as it is open late in the day.

We love this museum, there are so many things to see. And it's such good value, kids under 16 are free. You could easily spend a few hours here, it's great to learn about the local history too.

What a gem of a place! Small town museums tend to be a bit of a hotch-potch of artefacts but this one was so well laid out and so obviously well-cared for, it was a delight to visit. It is split into rooms, each with...More

I last visited here 40 years ago and wasn't disappointed my return. They even still have the two headed cat I remember from my childhood! Sarah met us on arrival and was so helpful finding items that were of personal interest to me and my...More
