Lovely short walk around hotel

Nice walk along the south side of the river before short incline onto the Cateran Trail . ...muddy to be expected with lots of rain recently but nice countryside views .

With 55 miles to walk you can enjoy a great 3 days of walking with enjoyable overnight stays or just walk a short section with varied scenery, wildlife. Its all great!

We have only walked a small part of the Cateran (started off with a coffee and scone at Cargill's bistro by the riverside, we like to indulge ourselves) it was certainly enough to whet our appetite for more. Lovely scenery, wildlife and peace and quiet. We aim to do a lot more in the spring.

My friends and I walked this trail in “one go” this summer supported by our wives and had an amazing experience. With stopovers at Kirkmichael, Spittal of Glenshee and Glenisla we covered a 55 mile route starting and finishing on the Brig of Blair. It was a series effort that saw us walk through the night completing the walk in... More

Each year I hike this in aid of the ABF Charity and it never fails to impress. Having hiked other endurance courses for charity the Cateran stands out as tough but achievable, difficult without being dangerous. In comparison to the Caledonian for example, I felt the terrain and layout of the trail to be much better for a single day's... More

My daughter and I hiked parts of the trail so that we could work on the Cateran Trail Geocoin. LOVED the parts that we were able to hike. It is well marked and every day was a different terrain and view for us. I was very glad to have my hiking poles as the terrain can be tricky on some... More

The Cateran Trail is over 60 miles long and I have only walked small parts of it, but it is worth it. It give the visitor a huge range of experiences of this part of Scotland and some stunning views. It gives you the best of Glen Isla and Glenshee, plus cruises by places like Forter Castle and Bamff Estate.... More
