Got on the train at Laxey and rode to the top of Snafell past the Laxey Wheel, Old Mine and the Bungalow on the TT course. Pre recorded info over a speaker system kept us informed of where we were and what to look out for on the journey up and down the mountain.

We took the train from Douglas to Laxey and then on again from Laxey to Ramsey. Interesting way to travel with beautiful scenery, but very noisy (rails squealed continuously). We purchased a Go card which gave us inclusive travel and offered good value for our stay.

I took a jaunt on the railway. The views are so amazing, you see the sea shimmering as the sunlight hits it. The dark puffs of smoke from the train brings you back to the days of old. The quaint railway stops with their name starting with 'Balla' which I was told is a Manx word meaning the "house belong to... More

Using my Go Explore card ( a good way of using public transport at a much reduced cost), the railway was by far the best way to get to Laxey and Ramsey. Yes you can get there by bus, but why would you want to when you can go by electric train!

Early finish and late flight meant i had time so I decided to go on the electric tram. It was very relaxing and the crew were very happy a. Trundled all the way to Laxey and never faultered. Nice to see the road users are considerate for them. had a nice journey and wish i had had time for more.... More

Lovely staff, superb views, and enjoyed ride to top where there is a restaurant for a cup of tea and something to eat. You see some of the TT course as you go up.

Nice journey from Douglas to Laxey and Ramsey. Bit noisy but bearable. Cold in the open carriage outside the height of summer or on a wet day l imagine. One of the must do things though when visiting the IOM. Plenty of parking on the Promenade free of charge.
