I can highly recommend Jurassic Jim for all your crystals. Jim is very friendly and helpful and gives great discounts on items that already have great prices. One of my favourite shops for crystals and mineral specimens.

Jurassic Jim is without a doubt the best shop & experience on the Isle of Wight. For fossil, dinosaur and gem lovers it is a treasure trove of wonderful treats! Packed full of a host of incredible items, it is surprisingly really reasonably priced and Jim & his team are incredibly friendly, knowledgable and welcoming. I've lost count of the number of times we've visited this year and last and I even purchased a segment of a mammoth tusk for my sons birthday when back home following an email conversation, then sending photos and chats over the phone. Nothing is too much for them and I couldn't recommend a visit more highly! Thank you so much guys, we'll be back! (Again!)

I visited with my 6 year old daughter.....she is dinosaur mad(I know very little about the but I am learning 😀.....I decided to buy her a Spinosaurus tooth. I asked for help, not realising I was talking to the owner,. Jim could not have been more helpful, he took me through prices, from cheapest to more expensive, he was not interested in selling the most expensive item, but getting the right thing for my daughter. He is clearly passionate and knowledgeable about this subject. A really interesting shop, and lovely owners (I think Jim’s son was there to) and very happy to recommend this shop to anyone who is (or has a daughter 😀) interested in dinosaurs, rocks and fossils!

When visiting Jurassic Jim's shop a few years back, it was an Aladdin's cave of treasures. Jim is very knowledgeable on minerals and fossils, he is extremely helpful face to face on the minerals, the history of formation, location etc. He is very willing to give advice on stones brought in as well. He shows the differences between items personally collected by him and the other reputably sourced minerals and fossils. I chose to buy some spectacular pieces which he had found; taking them back to mainland UK with me, knowing that they had been unearthed by an expert who took care of the minerals and fossils he had handled.

Now, things have gone Covid-19 lock down, it's all a bit different, not being able to visit the IOW and deal face to face with Jim. From my experience JJ's forte is definitely with the natural elements, rather than social media and IT. I had a below par experience trying to buy two rather beautiful pieces of mineral, but it didn't work out. I gave constructive and truthful feedback, which has been responded by me being blocked from his selling Facebook Page; which I think is pretty childish of him.

I hope that JJ becomes more knowledgeable with social media and IT and proves to other genuine customers, like myself, that he is able to fully manage to continue his business both face to face (now lock down is easing) and on social media methods to a wider audience. He brings the story alive to what some may consider "lumps of rock" but are pieces of natures beauty at it's best.

We went on a family holiday to the Isle of Wight and were recommended Jurrasic Jim's for a visit. It's one of a only a few genuine experiences in the area. It's a fascinating emporium of dinosaur and prehistoric fossils, as well as gifts for kids of all ages. We visited twice and were lucky enough to encounter Jim on both occassions, a lovely gentleman who was very knowledgeable about geology and brilliant with the kids. The shop is very family friendly and we were put at ease by the kids being allowed to touch most things. We bought some dinosaur teeth and geodes, Jim very kindly gave us a couple of freebies for the kids, who had a wonderful time there. Absolutely worth a visit, we will certainly return.

What a great place to visit, Jim was extremely helpful and my 6 year old son was over the moon with his new spionsaurus tooth and crocodile tooth.

Jim was especially lovely with my 3 year old daughter who wanted a polished pink gem for £1 and he played a game and let her keep the £1 and the gem.

I’d recommend to anyone looking for something for dinosaur mad kids

We visited this shop 7 or 8 years ago when it was in a different unit on the other side of the road. We never forgot the shop nor Jim himself who is a delight and who made my young children very welcome. My children are now in their teens and we were back on the Isle of Wight for a short break. Jurassic Jim was the first place we visited upon arriving and the last place we went to before catching the ferry home a few days later. We bought some lovely items which were very reasonably priced and we had a good chat with Jim who shared his knowledge and humour generously. This wonderful place is a must-visit.

Such a great lace we visited twice in a week and came from the other side of the island. The children loved it. Great gifts starting from £1 and the owners are the friendliest, most knowledgeable people you could ever hope to meet. This will always be on our to do list ever time we come to the island.

The best shop. I am a fossil and dinosoar lover, so this was a must-go and didn’t disappoint! Jim is very knowledgeable and friendly, and answered my questions fully. The shop itself is full of interesting and beautiful specimens, and is very affordable! I bought an incredible mounted ice age bison bone for myself and a beautiful pink agate for my friend - both together were only £13, and I was given a Jurassic Jim tote bag free. I love everything about this shop, and urge all visiting Shanklin or the Isle generally to go.

Excellent shop with all manner of fossils and interesting finds. Children were mesmerised by it all and were treated to various and very reasonably priced finds. Jurassic Jim-Junior was very knowledgeable about his subject. We would recommend a visit to any jurassic enthusiast!
