Before our visit read reviews and noted the fact it had won many camra awards but also that it was possibly unwelcoming. First impressions were that the outside of the premises looked very unkept, and the sign outside stating dress code made you immediately feel...More

Have been here a few times over the years as it is a good real ale pub. However this was the first visit since about 2013. A Tuesday night is never going to be a very busy one, but it disapointing to note that whilst...More

Visited this great pub on Saturday, soon as my girlfriend and I stepped through the door, we were greeted with mind the step from a friendly voice, that broke the ice and we felt right at home, great choice of real ales served by really...More

Right then, as a CAMRA member I was happy to see this, externally, pretty, thatched pub sitting amongst the overpriced thatched pubs/restaurants in old Shanklin. We've visited a few times now, each time hoping to that someone has decided to make it the something special...More

Visited one afternoon and sat in the lovely beer garden, and called in again the next evening as we found it such a pleasant place for a drink. Beautiful building with thatched roof and beer garden is away from the busy street above.

We first first attracted to the Crab Inn in Shanklin by its picture postcard exterior, once we walked inside we were disappointed by the modern interior, all of its original character had disappeared. Thankfully the close by King Harrys pub had both a picturesque thatched...More

Having read so much about the Old Village and its thatched-roofed cottages we walked up from our hotel. It was a fairly stiff up-hill walk from the city centre but from the top of the hill it was a very pretty view walking down to...More

We popped in here for afternoon drinks. The barman was very welcoming and friendly. We sat outside in the sun as there were plenty of seats. Lovely pub, would visit again.

I don't know about that, but having been going to pubs for 36 years I found the welcome poor. The landlord seemed too busy to chat with cronies than serve, leaving the barmaid to do all the work.
