Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Turned up in the morning to see what Shanklin had to offer and was open minded as to what we would find.
Parking was easy and at £1 or so an hour ok value.
We rented sunloungers on the beach set up as our own private booths (two loungers, two windbreaks, parasol and table) which was great! £12 for the full day. We also rented kayaks which kept the teens entertained although this can work out pricey as a single kayak is £8 per half hour!
Nice cafe and chip shop near by for lunch and then we headed to the crazy golf - two courses to choose from - £24 for a family of 4 or £40 for both courses.
After that it was the arcades and an ice cream (so many wonderful flavours to choose from).
There are showers and toilets available for public use which werent too bad.
All in all Shanklin provided a great day out. The beach front has everything you need all nicely compacted and no tackiness!

Lovely clean sandy beach with plenty of parking nearby. Six hours in the car par costs £8.30 but there is on road parking also. Plenty of nice eateries nearby.

Off season is a great time for photography with less people around. I stayed near the beach and took many photos. The weather wasn't perfect for sun rise photos but the people around were friendly and happy to join in with their phones.

Walked down to Shanklin beach with the Dog. The entire beach is banned to dogs with a £100 fine. Shame as the beach looked nice. Virtually everywhere didn’t accept dogs inside, a problem when it’s not warm. The beach itself is a mix of low quality pubs bars and restaurants. All of the food is depressingly stuck in the 1980’s: burgers pizza fish and chips and not much else. Service is pretty ropey too and most places closed by 9.30pm. The place is run down and lacking in any imagination. Only exception was the pirate play park which was the only thing I saw that had received any love and attention.

My advice? Head to Ventnor instead which is far more dog friendly and far better quality.

The Chine is worth visiting, but with steps and steep slopes. There is also a cafe & small museum.
Beware that you have to pay cash for use of the public toilets by the main car park in the town. Who carries cash these days?

Shanklin Beach was a hit, especially for families with kids. We visited in the afternoon during low tide, which turned out to be the perfect time. The beach is at its best closer to the chine, where you'll find less rocks and more open sandy areas - ideal for children with their sand pails.
We took a leisurely walk down the beach, enjoying the beautiful sand beneath our feet and the incredible views of the coastline. The scenery is truly breathtaking and provides a picturesque backdrop for a day out.
After our beach adventure, we were pleasantly surprised by the great restaurants nearby. We enjoyed a delicious dinner, which was the perfect way to end our day at the beach.

A beautiful sandy beach stretching along the Esplanade, some work still under way to freshen up and fully re-open after the lockdown so badly hit the island generally. They are making good process in a very narrow timeframe. The "all in" deal on 2 loungers, table and sun shade, etc is great value.

Personally, my preferred beach spot was by the clock tower, close to the Sail n surf cafe opposite the Osbourne steps (there is a ramp down to the beach). This is by far quieter than the beach area closer to the Pirates Cove and Jurassic Bay Adventure Golf. There are amenities close by too.

Nice stretch of beach, clean and sandy. Not a lot of beach left when the tide comes in, so check the tide timings or be diappointed. A few shops and cafes and restaurants behind the beach and a large car park. It was quiet on the day we visited and a little cool but I can imagine it gets quite busy in Summer,
Okay for a few hours, Parking is cash only or telephone pay - no cards accepted.
All parking on the island seems to be the same rate, a little high! Not yet introduced a ticket which serves all car parks for one day...would be a good idea!?

We were walking in the area and walked past this on the promenade. The tide was high so much of the beach was underwater and with the weather being a mix of rain and drizzle the beach wasn't being used. The bit of the beach we saw was sandy with some bits of litter about. In good weather this would be good and busy. There are shops, restaurants etc on the other side of the road
