About
A technical easy mountain over 6000m's, a good climb for beginners. Great for a first big mountain experience with great views of the Cordillera Real and mountains near La Paz. physically demanding, some acclimatization is need before attempting this trip.

Huayna Potosí with German Mountainguide
Oct. 2021 • Solo
I went to Huayna Potosí with German Mountainguide. He is a really nice guy and has a lot of experience so you can fully trust him! The only thing to consider is the language, I don't speak Spanish and he doesn't speak much English. So just to keep that in mind in case you want to talk much and don't speak Spanish ;-). Any other than that was he great and the experience itself was truly one of the best experiences in my life!!!

Huayna Potosí with German Mountain Guide

Highly recommend German Mountain Guide for trekking tours to Huayna Potosí. I have just returned from a fantastic 3 day trek with our guides German and Super Mario. It was a pleasure to deal with both of them at all times, their guidance during the treks was second to none, the equipment was good, the price was competitive and the food was plentiful. Our group of 3 successfully reached the summit for sunrise and it was an absolutely amazing experience that was definitely enhanced by the service we received from German Mountain Guide.

All the way to the Top with Super Mario !
Feb. 2020 • Solo
First ever mountain climbing in Bolivia and it is not an experience I’m ready to forget. Indeed, I did 3 days of hiking beforehand the very ascent of Huayna Potosi to get confident and it really helped me to get to the top.

I spent almost a week with Super Mario (German’s friend) and I highly recommend both of them. They are highly regarded as mountain guides in Bolivia.
They are very experienced with more than 30 years of practice each which makes them unique on a professional level as well as great human beings.

Regardless how fit your are, they will to their best to push you all the way to the top. Trust me, don’t look any further .. trust them, they are your guides to Huayna Potosi.

1st Class with German & Supermario
Jan. 2020
After reading great reviews online I booked a 3-day trip to Huayna Potosi with German Mountain Guide. I had a great time and the trip was my highlight of Bolivia. My two guides for the trip was German and Super Mario. The organisation was fantastic from start to finish and they took care of everything, including all the technical equipment I needed and feeding me big, tasty portions of food!
I have never been above 5,000m before and although Super Mario could have run up the mountain he was a great guide and made sure to go at my pace and was always on hand when needed. If you're going to go up Huayna Potosi the German Moutain Guide (find him on Facebook) is the best company!

Fantasic 3 day trek with SUPERMARIO! Booked through the company German Mountain Guide. Despite not speaking english, Supermario was a great guide, I had full confidence in him, food was great and he just had such a great energy.

Highly recommend German
Dec. 2019 • Solo
I had heard stories of not enough food and being too cold in the nights as well as bad equipment. A friend recommended German to me and I couldnt be happier. Leftover food (not due to poor quality) every meal plus top notch gear always was much appreciated.
For the summit, some guides went too hard too fast while another wasn't able to read the situation well enough and turned back thinking it would be too bad weather ahead. German and Super Mario expertly led us to the summit on an especially hard day to enjoy amazing views and an overwhelming sense of accomplishment.
As did my friend earlier, could not recommend German and his company enough:)

We have done it! It was quite difficult. We joined German and his company from La Paz. You can find him on Fabebook as German mountain guide. He and his friend Mario were reliable, responsible and helpful. You can do it but it is exhausting journey. Do not underestimate aclimatization day with brief training with cramps and axe if you never done it.

Challenging but unforgettable

I chose the 3D/2N tour with Jiwaki (booked through Fluvial but can book direct to Jiwaki) and I couldn’t recommend the company more. Jesús, Juán and Mario were such caring guides and really tried to make our lives as easy and as safe as possible. This climb is physically demanding and you need to make sure you acclimatise properly (doing 3D helps massively) but ultimately it is mind over matter. All 4 of us in our group managed to summit and it is the most rewarding challenge you could ever complete! Would highly recommend.

Climbing/hiking tour with German mountainguide
Nov. 2019 • Solo
It was highlight of my stay in Bolivia. German and Ismael provided very good service. Thanks to them I was able to reach the summit. I was quite struggling with high altitude. If you have good sports clothes I would recommend to double check with them what you could take with you... eg boots, pants, ... you could leave it in base camp if you don’t decide to use it. You would feel every gram when you hike up :)

Huayna Potosi done

So I just wanna say thank you to mountain guide Ramiro Ramirez, whose experience allowed my to make my dream come true. This guy is extremely strong and professional, and what was important for me, he fit a tempo to my capabilities. I knew I am in good hands already in the first day when I saw how he climbs on the glacier. I was climbing with a lot of people before, but I have never seen such a good technique. Amazing experience.
