- ClaireF1985Glasgow, United Kingdom211 contributionsLovely attraction for small children and their families.Visited with a 1 year old and a 5 year old. They both had a magical time, the 5 year old had a quiz to complete that was reasonably set for her age group. We all loved the garden and the wee tips on how to make your garden inviting to animals and allow them to keep warm and safe over the weekend. The attraction is well laid out and allows you to step into the tales of Beatrix Potters characters, the figures and scenes are really well done. Only thing I’d say is the hill up to entrance is quite steep, if you have any issues or concerns with mobility it might be too much for you.Visited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten 3 November 2023
- Ange717York, United Kingdom181 contributionsNice way to spend a wet afternoon. Pleasant staff and cafe.A small, clean, attraction but very nicely done, starting with a short introductory film. A walk through exhibit with models in displays. An interactive screen near each display for extra information about the relevant story and the truths they were based upon. Items for the youngsters to look for in the displays too. The sets all blended nicely together in a sort of woodland walk feel. Music and lighting effects and lovely photo opportunities if not too busy. A section of more in depth history about the buildings/local area and Beatrix's life is at the end, which was more interesting for adults. There is a door to the small outside garden which is small but had a lot of thought put into in and obviously would be nicer in summer than a rainy day in November. This is near the start of the walk though so you are quickly back inside. I was actually in there for about 80 minutes which I was surprised by as it was small. Nice shop and large cafe with some outside seating at the end and clean loos etc. Prices same as everywhere else. The staff were all lovely and smiley and polite in every section but particularly the young girl at the entrance Chelsea, who was smiley and enthusiastic despite the atrocious weather, She put my brolly behind the counter as it was dripping. Great welcoming customer service. I actually learned a lot .Nice way to spend a wet afternoon, concession for over 60's, £8 not too bad these days.Visited November 2023Travelled soloWritten 10 November 2023
- Steve M7 contributionsBeatrix Potter magicThe venue appears small and the entrance fee was very reasonable, so we were not expecting much, however the building was like a Tardis with excellent use of space. The standard of the characters are at Disney levels. The exhibition was exemplary and a joy for all ages. I highly recommend a visitVisited February 2024Travelled with familyWritten 26 February 2024
- alexrolfe4London, United Kingdom105 contributionsGreat for families young and oldWonderful attraction for families young and old. Kept my boy engaged with the great attractions and (perhaps sadly) I was very engaged by the garden. A reminder of why Beatrix Potter’s works are still popular to this day, a celebration of English country life.Visited April 2024Travelled with familyWritten 10 April 2024
- Claire RKinmel Bay, United Kingdom300 contributionsWorth a visit as a one offLet’s get the negative out of the way first-it’s expensive for something that took 1 hour to do but it may have taken longer if we’d have had children with us. Aside from the cost there isn’t really much else to moan about. It’s a beautiful, well put together experience of all things Beatrix Potter. It’s such a lovely walk through of all her characters from the series of books. We loved looking in the trees at the mice & the garden part was beautiful especially seeing the miniature statue before seeing the full size water feature. We enjoyed the part which showed parts of her real life too. My particular favourite was the Lily pond feature. We didn’t not visit the cafe on this trip so cannot comment on that.Visited April 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 21 April 2024
- Matt S1 contributionStaff members are the best asset of this exhibitionI have visited the exhibition during a very busy bank holiday. It was like living the stories that Beatrix Potter wrote. However the best experience has been in the shop and in the caffee. I was looking for the book "The fairy caravan" but could not find it so I've asked to a blonde lady with glasses at the till if they had any copy left. The lady rang their other shop and confirmed me they had three copies left then a girl with blue hair (apologies if I don't remember your names, you all had a name tag... it's me, not you) went to the shop to get me a copy. This sounds like nothing special but considering how busy it was I believe they walked the extra mile in order to make me happy and I really appreciated that. I then decided to have the afternoon tea in the caffee and while it was mad busy, a girl called Mia explained me how the afternoon tea worked and that I had to get a table first. She has been very nice and was happy to get my order once I finally got a table. A big plus of the afternoon tea was that unlike others you could choose any hot drink so it wasn't just tea or americano. The sandwitches were all freshly made (or at least that's how they tasted like which it was another plus) and Mia served me the afternoon tea at the table, constantly smiling despite the amount of adults and kids coming in from the exhibition. Indeed I enjoyed my experience but maily I enjoyed the customer service provided, every single staff member went above their standard duties and loved what they were doing showing passion in keeping Beatrix Potter stories alive and serving guests in what I would say, was one of the best customer service ever. Well done guys, I will pay another visit next time I'm in the area.Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 31 May 2024
- v20132016Manchester, United Kingdom93 contributionsGreat visitHaving visited Windermere lots of times this was the first time we visited this attraction with two children aged 4 and 8. It is a must do but I felt it was a little pricey for £30 for the four of us, they did give us £1.20 blue light NHS discount though. The attraction itself is beautiful and the displays I can imagine have taken a lot of time and effort to create. You can go round all the attractions within 40mins so it isn't a place where you can spend half a day or a full day but still something one must do. The booklets with activities for kids were a nice touch. Gift shop is gorgeous with a mixture of pocket money priced items to those more expensive.Visited June 2024Travelled with familyWritten 6 June 2024

- Caitlin GScotland, United Kingdom94 contributionsJust like a storybook! 💕Just like a storybook! It's such a cute, wonderful place to explore. It's really interesting, the design/ details are fantastic. You start in a theatre showing the history of Beatrix Potter, then you get to explore the attraction. Me and my husband came alone during a coach trip, but our children would have loved it! Cost £21 for two adults. Spent about 45 minutes inside. They do have a small interactive area for the children and a camera for photos at the end. So would have spent longer if the children were with us. Bought the children beautiful mirrors from the gift shop at £2.50 each! Thanks for your lovely review - great to hear you enjoyed your visit!Written 26 June 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited June 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 25 June 2024

We recently attended the Beatrix Potter attraction with our 18 month old and 5 year old and it was such a magical experience for us all almost like a Christmas experience, the animals are very true to life and the information about her life is lovely. There are animals in every nook and cranny and the smells make it so real it is worth looking in the garden area outside. Our only whinge would be about the 25 minute rate in the pouring rain and then the 35 minute wait inside to get in, we would ask if you could please implement a ticket system, however would like to thank you for passing on the VAT saving to visitors

We visited with our toddler who was mesmerised on the way round and was pointing at lots of things. Undercover are to queue in which didn't take too long to queue. Then we entered the world of Beatrix characters. Beautifully done throughout the place and impressive for adults as well as children. Took about 50mins to go through. Small cafe available with some tasty sweet treats bakewell tart. Baby change and high chairs available. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area and very reasonably priced thoroughly recommend it.

Came here accidentally thinking it was the National Trust Hill Top place - however we were not disappointed. The attraction was lovely, however the entry price is fairly expensive for how quickly you finish walking round the exhibition. It was a lovely half hours experience however and would recommend to anyone with young children or who grew up with Beatrix Potter books.

The pros are the installations themselves, the little scenes from the stories were lovely. The figurines were very cute and well made. My young daughter enjoyed looking through the 'rabbit and mouse' holes. I can see the effort made to make social distancing possible and there are hand sanitiser stations around the exhibit. I think ordinarily there would be interactive activities for the children to engage with, however they were closed. This meant we were in and out in about 20 minutes. As others have said this is quite pricey for what you get and the time you spend there.
The cons are the price, the lengthy queues to get in (once you get in the building the line continues and winds around). Because you had to wait for people to leave the next section I felt you couldn't take as much time as you'd like to look at things.

We went to The World of Beatrix Potter today. I spoke to a staff member a few day’s in advance who was extremely helpful and advised when it would be busy. (Rainy days and afternoons) we arrived at 945 and only a few people were waiting. The queue system to get in was straightforward and payment easy. Staff all wore masks and were very polite. There are no toilets at the start of the attraction which was not ideal with a young child, nor any where to get a drink. The attraction consists of a walk through of scenes from Beatrix Potter stories, there is also a very small garden to walk through. There is no touching of the scenes and once you leave a room you cannot go back in. It’s very tricky with COVID as only one family are allowed in a room at a time. But people end up waiting at the edge of a room so you feel like you have to move on. But on the plus side you get to look in peace. I can imagine before Covid the rooms got very crowded as they are very small and narrow. The whole thing took about 25 minutes. It says on the website 45 min but there none of the interactive stuff to do. The talk at the beginning wasn’t on and you can’t have photographs. After the walk through there’s the shop and then you can access the toilet and cafe. Cafe was reasonably priced and coffee ok. It’s sweet but unless your kids love Beatrix potter stories there’s really not a lot for kids. And there’s not much for adults either. It would have been nice to have had more information to read and learn about Beatrix Potter. Ok to pass half hour but bit pricey for what it is. Also it really should be ticketed with set arrival times to better manage numbers. It’s a very small building and I can imagine when it’s busy social distancing is very difficult.

Thanks for taking the time to review. Our touch screens are out of action at the moment due to the current Covid regulations, but visitors can get lots of info from our guide book as they explore the Attraction. We have reduced our prices to reflect the cut in VAT and are confident we still offer excellent value for money to Beatrix Potter fans and those new to the amazing stories! We are very pleased to hear that our staff have been so helpful.

We have visited here many times and the exhibit itself is delightful. The current situation however is a nightmare! The set up has been changed to make a Covid safe environment and although great efforts have been made it isn't ideal. We arrived initially around 12. As the attraction is not taking pre bookings the queue was all the way up the street probably around 2 hours. It was torrential and the queue had many small children and babies in.
Our son was upset to leave but we went for lunch and returned around 230. Queue was shorter but snaked around the theatre part in marked boxes after a booth for track and trace. We waited around 45minutes. The room was very hot indeed. This did space out the people but once in everyone was clumped together and some parts were quite congested. There was one staff member trying to control flow inside then a bottleneck stopping people before the shop as it was too busy in there.
It's a real shame as booked timed entry would resolve a lot of this.

Last minute decision to come here and we were left pleasantly surprised.
I didn’t know much about Beatrix Potter before I came but this attraction really told her story well and was very educational as well as fun.
Entrance - quite pricey to get in. And we bought a ‘guide’ which I have to say was pretty useless. I’d recommend not bothering buying it and just naturally finding your way round attraction.
First, there’s a short video played which is very good and informative. However once video finished everyone files out into the start of the attraction and this causes a bottleneck as the first room you go into is far too small. Quite a few people were getting frustrated and I can understand why.
The rest of the attraction is mock ups of various characters from her books which are lovely creations, with interactive screens to give you more details on the characters in front of you. There’s also a garden as well as more information on the lady herself.
Overall, lovely attraction but quite significantly over priced in my opinion.

I appreciate that this was always going to be a busy attraction, especially at a weekend. However as the majority of visitors surely include families with young children the layout/organisation is ridiculous. My daughter is 18months old and wants to walk about not in a disruptive way. However, due to the amount of people there we were pushed, shoved and made to feel like we needed to hurry along by other visitors. This could all be solved by having time slots and being able to purchase tickets in advance.
To top the ‘experience’ off we visited the gift shop and had to queue for rather a long time due to two staff working on one till. One was simply bagging items yet clearly had the ability to work the systems.
All in all we spent £45 on admissions for a family morning out that was rushed and ruined by the lack of organisation.
I will not be returning and would advise anyone to stay away.

We visited during a recent weekend break and were delighted with the exhibition. COVID controls were great throughout however we did feel pressurised by the family behind us to move on quicker than we would have liked. I felt we had missed so much as they didn’t seem to look at anything and then spent longer in the shop than the whole exhibition. When I spoke to reception they kindly let us go round again and we had time to fully appreciate all the details of the displays. The shop was fully equipped with all types of Beatrix potter gifts and souvenirs. We then treated ourselves to afternoon tea in the cafe and there was an offer on 2 for £15 and it was so worth it. We had to take half the cakes home with us as we were so full. Lovely couple of hours spent.

Before I write this I want to assure people I am very aware that places have to adapt to very difficult times - however they need to start a prebooking system with allocated times as at the moment they are letting everyone that turns up in which resulted in queueing for over an hour to get in before basically spending another hour queuing through the exhibition. If there were time allocated tickets with maximum numbers ( like other places we have visited) this would be a lovely trip, instead it was a frustrating afternoon of standing in queues listening to young children fed up and screaming! Ending in another queue for the shop (which we didn't want to go to but still had to queue to be let out). We have done quite a few museums and tours post pandemic and this is the only way which has got the system all wrong!

Thank you for taking the time to review– it is really helpful to have feedback from our visitors. We opened on 1 August after a 4-month closure and like everyone operating a business during the Covid crisis, we are learning as we go along and really trying our best to offer the safest experience possible in these difficult times. We have quickly realised how much visitors had missed us and want to come back, so we have a carefully structured entry system in place to ensure this. However, on very wet days, there are few indoor Attractions in the Lakes and we are a popular choice so queues are inevitable. We’re sorry but at this time a pre-booking system is not possible. For families thinking of visiting in the future... the majority of the time we are open there is no queue or a very quick-moving one, but on rainy days we are usually at our busiest.

Bowness-on-Windermere, United Kingdom
Hi there, we look forward to welcoming you to the Attraction. We rarely get any queues at the Attraction outside of August school holiday wet days, so simply arrive at the Attraction to purchase your ticket at the front desk.
We are situated 1.3 miles from Windermere train station - this would be about a 30 minute downhill walk or a short bus or taxi ride.
We have a lovely cafe in our Attraction which bakes fresh cakes and scones every day. We also offer organic salads grown in our own kitchen garden, afternoon teas, sandwiches etc. All highly recommended!
The area is great for families, we are a 5 minute walk from the Lake. You can take a cruise, ride a steam train, visit the aquarium, go to brockhole or the local motor museum. There is also the new Windermere Jetty museum just opened up the road. Other than that there are so many beautiful walks to get ALL THE VIEWS - the best you'll see. Come soon and enjoy!
