A varied 4.7 mile walk classed as Moderate along the South West Coast Path as it heads along the east coast of Portland, passing great scenery, historical forts and old quarry workings. Many of the paths around Portland Bill are accessible for powered wheelchair users and rugged pushchairs. The first ½ mile of this route follows a level wide path, but after this becomes more varied with some steep and uneven sections before reaching Church Ope Cove. From the cove to Portland Heights the path is relatively level apart from one steep climb.

A truly lovely place to visit, unfortunately the Light was closed when we were there but the whole area is a delight to walk. The views are amazing on a clear day and the evidence of Portland stone quarrying are all around Lovely Café/restraunt the' Lobster pot' to have a meal or just a tea and cake. Well worth a... More

But the restaurant made up for the that with fresh scones and good portions of cream and jam to boot. Tea, enough for 4 cups. Good friendly service. Perfect stop for your cream tea or snack.

This on a clear day is worth going to but the lighthouse and shop etc is dependent on whether you want to climb the steps. Ok

You are not far from Weymouth but you feel you are very far away. Portland is interesting to see and the views are spectacular

Interesting lighthouse but a little haphazard from an organisational basis. Could be a little better organised to aid the experience. Nice shop and restaurant close by. Worth a visit.

Worth a visit, stunning views of Chesil Beach. Great to see the Olympic Rings, the views from there were beautiful. Lovely walk, be aware it's a windy spot ! Easy to drive to, large car park.

We visited here as part of our visit to Weymouth, there isn't a great deal to see, but nice for a walk and you can climb/access the lighthouse should you wish. We walked around the lighthouse and visited the little cafe and shop which was really nice.

Thank johanna c
