The latest exhibition is of some of the original items used to create childhood programmes such as the clangers, pogoles wood etc. It is not a big exhibition and there aren't hundreds of items but it is amazing to see how simply and crudely these props and puppets were . The clangers are knitted and a lot of mechano string and... More

At this Summer show they had over 200 paintings, woodturning, ceramics and textiles for sale, the best show each year for all ages

I often visit the Burton art gallery when I am in Bideford. There is always something interesting to look at and their collection includes some beautiful local coastal painting and drawings that I love to see. There is also a good shop and local artists work for sale in the side gallery. The Café du Parc is a popular local... More

Attended a preview evening last night of this new exhibition, which was packed. If you are the right vintage then this will take you nicely down memory lane.

Having visited Bideford on many occasions I can't believe we missed this place. The gallery has some gems, the shop is full of gorgeous cards and gifts and the french style cafe serves the best coffee and cakes - for miles! The staff were kind and enthusiatic and from the programme of events it looks like there are some cool... More

Living now mostly in Bideford we stroll down at least once or twice a month to view the art exhibitions, the crafts and have something to eat in the cafe. The cafe is wonderful with French pastries and cakes, crepes and tasty lunchtime food. It is always a highlight visiting the Burton. I also like the shop with its wide... More

It was pouring with rain when we arrived in Bideford and so we thought we would pop into the gallery & museum. This was when a shelter from the rain turned into something much more memorable. What a stunning place to visit. 1) Very pleasant and welcoming staff. 2) It was absolutely FREE!! 3) There is so much to see... More

We just saw this, and after a walk through Bideford (which was also very nice) we just dropped in - a lovely collection, with lots of interesting exhibits and local history (the model of the bridge outlining its long history was really nice to see). Costs £2 per pperson which is nothing nowadays - would you believe we came down,... More

Really very impressed by the cafe here - delicious food. Superb service. And my only complaint about the art exhibition in the gallery was that I ended up buying a superb signed print. More expense! Seriously impressive
