Quite long walks for youngsters, but plenty of interesting things to find along the way. There were a number of events and activities going on too, being bank holiday weekend. Rounded off with a lovely lemon crumble slice, apart from a couple of sulky kid moments this was a good way to spend a few hours

This a really lovely place to visit any time of year, there is always something of interest. The flowers from Spring onwards, the special events throughout the year, play areas for children of all ages. There are walks, if you are lucky you can see the deer. There are good facilities and a market is held first and third Saturday... More

Car park free and a good walk to office. Really it's a walking place. Few derelict buildings which were lively. Chapel with door open and sign saying closed n winter so bit confusing. Very well signposted most of the time but very little about the history. Signs outside derelict buildings but not enough knowledge. Stables nice but nobody about to... More

We decided to visit again after a good few years gap, we really weren't disappointed, it was a wonderful way to spend a Saturday afternoon, we grabbed a coffee before heading out, nice coffee shop plenty of seats inside and out and a reasonable menu, we had no idea where we were headed but we followed the signposts and just... Worth a visit for NT members, bit pricey otherwise. It’s basically a large country park with a derelict house. It used to be a great place for dog walkers until an unfortunate accident has meant that all dogs now have to be on leads. Bit draconian, there is a lot of space here and surely the NT could designate some... More

It's been many years since we were NT members be rejoined on our recent retirement. Gibside was our first. Had not been for many years and those years had had a big effect. Arrived 10:30 and did not leave until 1:30. Hadn't intended to be there that long, but we enjoyed it so much the time just disappeared. Great walk,... More

So glad we finally made it to Gibside - I'd passed signs for it for ages without knowing what it was, and went in with zero expectations. It's really well staffed, equipped and well-managed and the grounds and building ruins are stunning, would be even more so when the sun makes an appearance I'm sure. The playground was great too,... Visited today it cost £23 for 2 admission very disappointed the garden was very poor and just walking around dirt track paths . Visited coffee shop no snacks or food left and there was over 2 hours until closing time service was very poor overall a disappointing visit.
