We walked from the town centre and back. The pathway is clearly signposted and offers invigorating sea views, and a birds-eye perspective on the WW2 (and earlier) fortifications to protect Lerwick Harbour.
Great views around The Knab. Path well maintained and easily navigated. Total time about 30 minutes so a must for everyone off a cruise ship!! On a calm day it gives beautiful views across to Bressay island and the southern aspects of the Shetland islands

Great find - walk south out of the town along the coast and join the pathway around the headland - spectacular views across the water, birds, cliffs etc. Probably only takes just over an hour to complete which brings you back in the town centre.
Route pamphlet available from Lerwick Tourist Information Buro near pier, centre of Lerwick. Instructions are very clear. Provide a bit of history about all the things visible along the route. Great to use when arriving in Lerwick for the first time, especially.
This should be a 'must do' when in Lerwick. Such a beautiful walk along the coast that can take your breath away. We walked from the pier to Clikimin Broch along this route and it was the most memorable thing we did on this trip....More
