Well worth exploring with lovely rural walks to extend your day. The house is actually still lived in,so with the expert guides the past is bridged to the present very successfully. The house has lots of interest including magnificent historic stables. There is a small tea room with simple home bakes and lovely views if you're lucky enough to visit... More

The weather couldn't dampen a beautiful day at the garden party this year. A quintessential English garden party, tombolas, brass bands and cake stalls, just perfect.

We sometimes use the public footpath through the estate to walk the dog - there can be livestock so take care. Its a pleasant walk but nothing seems to be going on. Last weekend we noticed the private grounds had been opened for 6hrs and any proceeds donated to charity. The weather was beautiful and the many walled gardens were... More

After a complete mix up with our party booking, made by our Secretary week's previously, we ended up visiting the hall am on Thursday May 19th and not pm and so left without any facilities for even a drink. The ridiculously small sign post for the hall meant that we over shot the entrance and had to take our 50... More

We booked a group tour months ago and 3 days before, the organiser rang to check timing etc etc and was informed they didnt have us booked in. Eventually it was sorted and we arrived yesterday. It was a group of retired people that were made to feel about 5 yrs old by the condescending attitude of the guide. It... More

Took my Scottish friends - ex school mates to the Hall as it is local and they were visiting me in Cheshire for the first time. Our tour guide David was well informed and we all liked the quirkiness of the place. Very different from many old houses. A really interesting history. The afternoon tea was wonderful - served by... Much altered and improved over the years with a Georgian block demolished ! Impressive rose gardens with simple topiary . 1585 on an outside door near entrance. Amazing beams in large room downstairs - beams set at angle not just straight across at right angles to walls.Bedrooms vary from dark and dismal looking to bright light and airy. Good tour... More

Most historic houses, at least in this part of the world, are either visitor attractions pure and simple - think classic National Trust stately home! - or privately owned properties with a "tourist route" of formal rooms open for inspection and a corner or a wing in which the family still lives, closed off behind doors marked "Private". Peover Hall... More

We've been trying to visit Peover Hall for years, but have been thwarted by the limited opening hours (Tues and Thurs afternoons, summer months only) and our own inability to follow directions! We finally managed it yesterday. Was it worth the wait? Absolutely!! We visited the gardens only, leaving the magnificent looking house until next time. As you enter the... More

A beautiful Country House set in delightful Gardens with a Church in the grounds, the Church holds a few secrets and is only opens a few times during the week. A visit in Spring or Summer sees a magical display from the Azaleas and other flowers in the gardens.
