Very interesting exhibits and history of Oakham, mostly of rural interest, which you would expect, being in Rutland. Very good display of quilts when we were there. And there is no entrance fee.

We visited the Rutland Country Museum during our stay and enjoyed around an hour wandering around the exhibits and looking at all the old farm machinery, and items from times long since past. Highly recommended.

Great collection from the area worth the visit and very kind staff. It is a free museum. There were some little games for kids as well.

We called in here on a wet afternoon and were really pleasantly surprised at this gem of a museum. It isn't rows upon rows of slightly boring exhibits but bite sized pieces of really interesting information, which is easily digestible and thoughtfully put together. Whoever...More

Housed in what was a military riding school, this museum shows Rutland's history from prehistoric times. There are many rural and agricultural exhibits and interactive activities for youngsters. It is also the local Tourist Information Centre.A bonus is that entry is free!

A very interesting museum where you can wander round at your leisure, don't forget to go outside to see the sweet garden and the farm vehicles, on a darker note, go and visit the Oakham gallows.
