Catered for us in n a private dining room, the house needs TLC from the National Trust and the paintings and their descriptions are chaotic. Individual paintings in the gallery need individual annotation.

Lovely house to visit especially on a grey, dank, wet April day. Staff & volunteers very informative and helpful. Just enough rooms to get round although can be tricky with someone who has walking difficulties. Buggy provided from car park to house... But not to...More

The house and gardens are lovely; the house itself contains a fabulous collection of art (look out for the Canaletto), but make sure you pick up one of the directories available in the entrance hall if you want some information on the paintings as none...More

I visited with my ageing mother and my daughter during the Feb half term. It was a very cold and blustery day but we wanted to go to somewhere new and this wasn't far. It was such a treat to feel part of the 'story'...More

Impressive House with great art and porcelain. 1920s theme was rather lost and not carried through. So many stories (have visited before) were completely lost. John Constable painting was unlit and in a dingy dark corner with no light. Loved grounds and cafe.

Easter egg hunt was disapointing. Maybe the gardens would have been a better visit in the warmer months and there was an open empty swimming pool with a massive drop to the bottom, which only had a thin rope around it and with that many...More

Visiting the house is an experience with the guides taking you back in time, lots of interesting displays. The gardens are a delight especially down towards the mirror lake.

Visited today on a wet dismal day. Soon cheered up by the cheerful & informative volunteer guides. From Bryan who did the introduction in the entrance hall to the gentleman in the art gallery, who has an encyclopaedic knowledge of the paintings, we were enthralled....More

Very informative staff. Fabulous collection of porcelain and artwork. Very enjoyable. Nice wat to see a grand house of the 1920's. Didn't get to walk the gardens as it was raining heavily.

My idea would be to ring Upton and find out what they suggest. The staff are so helpful - they may be able to help you plan your visit so that you can use the restaurant. The food at Upton is excellent and caters for all. If... More
