We called in having never been in before. Entrance was free and we was acknowledged as soon as we walked in by a member of staff and made to feel very welcome . She talked to the children and explained some things about the museum . There wasn't a great deal to do, however what they did have was well... More

The museum is packing up to prepare for a refurbishment. One of the staff said hello and asked what we were interested in. We said that we had come to find out about the Roman presence in Buxton. He was a real delight - he went to remarkable lengths to show us everything he could to fill us in on... More

Visited with friends who also have a baby on Saturday. Welcoming staff but odd they won't hive change for THEIR pay and display car park. ..... my husband had to wall up the road to find another shop! also no lift for the pushchairs and had to carry the babies upstairs instead. The lady on the desk did say they... More

Knowing that Buxton Museum & Art Gallery is undergoing a transformation – and having already spent two and a half hours wandering up and down various steep hills in Buxton to look at its other tourist attractions - I had originally planned to take a very quick look around the museum on my way up to the market square, where... It's good for a wet afternoon. They have displays of Roman things and the Blue John industry. Worth a visit to find out more about Buxton.

The museum is currently going through a major refurb, however, what we did see and the knowledge of the staff was second to none. The staff were showing artefacts from the past which grabbed my sons attention. Can't wait to visit in spring 2017

I love a museum. It's always the highlight of my trip. But this was a disappointment. Granted most of the exhibits were closed, those that were open I found were lacking information and we're not well displayed.
