The Dome is a truly beautiful old building and the shape of it is really charming. It's said tha if you stand right in the centre on the ground floor and whisper you can be heard everywhere in the building.

It is an amazing building. It has a dome which is larger than St Paul's in London. It is a must see place not to be missed! It has an interesting history. It is now owned by Derby University.

I found this by happy accident. It's an incredible building worth going out of your way for. I seems to be used by Derby University now, but has been used for all kinds of things over the last 200 years. There's no way of grasping this spectacle from the outside- you have to go in. The dome itself is obvious... More

As a group of friends we lunch together every few weeks. For the last few years we have sought to enjoy a Christmas lunch at the Dome, or more accurately the Dining Room at FF level where the students of the catering College, a part of derby University lean the customer facing part of their chosen career. The Dome itself... More

In truth there is not much here - but if you are in Buxton you really should go in to see it. The dome is absolutely stunning.

This has now been taken over by the University of Derby who have a place in Buxton now (in fact this place). It's beautiful inside and seemingly a vaity project for the Duke of Devonshire in its day. Nevertheless it's well worth a visit and apparently the spa is still in use even though we didn't see it.
