A stroll through Buxton Country park from Poole's Cavern leads to the summit of Grin Low at 1440' altitude and the Victorian viewing tower of Solomon's Temple.Built in 1896 the 20' tower with spiral stairs give a magnificent platform to view the surrounding Peak District landscape and the Spa town of Buxton in the valley below.

Its a bit of a climb from Buxton up to the tower but worth it if you have a couple of hours to spare and fancy some exercise in the fresh air. You can climb right up and walk round the top - great views.

Often take the dog for stroll through the woods here. Well maintained trail, and the tower itself is quite unique. If you are a tourist combine with pools cavern for half a day of activities!

We went to the country park after visiting the cavern. It was a nice walk but once you get to the temple I see not much it's good for the view and to stop for few seconds and that is about it reallynot much.

A lovely walk from the country park car park through the woods to the temple. Several routes. Plenty of parking available. Cafe and toilets at visitor centre.

The Peak District National Park is full of curious landmarks, and Solomon’s Temple is no exception. It’s a simple two-storey stone structure built in the late 19th century. It replaced an earlier structure which had been built in the early 19th century, of which only...More

A steady climb up through the woods from Poole's Cavern carpark following the yellow markers. The suns rays through the trees were lovely. Once through the wood the tower still looks distant but worth the extra push across the bumpy ground. The wind blew &...More
