The castle is gorgeous and well worth a visit. It's grounds are beautiful and extremely well kept. Staff are lovely. There is a lovely walk around the castle also.

This castle is close to the city centre and is an amazing ruin of what would've been a grand fortress. Built on the banks of the River Wye, it has easy parking closeby. We loved the fact that it hasn't been done up to the hilt and a lot of it is left as original.

The castle itself looks impressive from the outside and has oldest castle doors in Europe! The visiting dragon was a highlight for the children especially. The views as you walk around are lovely and you can even look across to England!

Any castle lover will enjoy this moderately preserved castle. There are plenty of nooks and crannies to explore and tower steps to climb. Scenic views and convenient parking at the foot of the castle, £2 for 4 hours. This should be enough time to wander around the castle and stroll through the town and grab a bite to eat.

Impressed by the size of this castle built on the banks of the Wye and added to overthr next few hundred years - dates back to 1067. Fabulous views over Chepstow town and river. Lots of entertainment here during the summer months - Shakespeare and rock concerts.

Lovely visit- enjoyed the visiting dragon, falconry display and storyteller events. Great for exploring with young family as it's a big castle with dramatic river views but not too many steep stairs. Simple, brief interpretation signs. look out for the oldest castle gates in Europe. NOTE - no cafe or toilets on site - use the loos in car park... More

A beautiful and well restored castle, well worth a visit. Can be seen from many areas in Chepstow, and looks breathtaking from all sides especially from the front and the riverside.

Firstly it is very inexpensive to enter the castle. At the moment there is the added bonus of seeing a dragon. The views offered across the river wye and the town are spectacular. One tip would be sensible footwear for the stairs. They are very steep and little room for large feet.
