Folkestone harbour is much like any other harbour except that it has the old railway bridge running right through it. The bridge is currently being renovated and pedestrianised to lead to the Harbour Arm, which is another good place to visit. The quayside has a good seafood bar and regularly hosts a small market.

At present a lot of upgrades all around this area. Visually not so good. I am sure when completed it will start uplifting the whole area as it is all in urgent need. Looking very tired all around!!!

Headed here following reviews saying the beach was decent. There was so much building work going on that most of front was closed. We briefly Investigated lower leas costal park (which seemed ok) and sunny sands. However our trip was ruined by the numbers of unsavoury characters hanging about in various states of drunkenness. The area was dirty and uninviting... More

This is a working harbour with a small fishing fleet and stalls in the vicinity offering freshly caught fish and shell fish. Local amenities include pubs, the Smoke House fish restaurant (seasonal opening) and the brilliant restaurant Rock Salt (open year round) with cocktail bar on upper floor overlooking harbour. The newly refurbished harbour arm is now open for business,... More

It's good going down Folkestone harbour, it's got bars and a great restaurant called Rocksalt and the smokehouse fish n chips shop/restaurant. There's some good pubs to and bands playing on a Sunday afternoon. A really great afternoon on the harbour.
