My visit to Folkestone last week for five nights. I have some walking difficulties due to Siatica and I was looking forward to using the Leas lift from the Harbour to the Leas and subsequently my hotel. Wow! What a shock when I observed it...More

I recently visited Folkestone and was very pleasantly surprised with the way the town is moving forwards. I've been visiting since 1964 so have seen it at its best and worst! The cliff lift, however, is a black spot. It needs the braking system updating...More

Many years ago using this lift as a child was a great adventure. Unfortunately it was closed recently due to safety concerns , and may never re-open. A shame.

The lead lift was out of action so if you wanted to get down to the sea front you had to use stairs which didn't have handles we didn't go down as l have sciatica

Outstanding and nostalgic attraction with a practical purpose. It is a total tragedy to close it due to a minor Health & Safety issue. I am a Chartered H&S Consultant who works on international projects and would be happy to help for free. Please contact...More

It needs a really good tidy up. More than a coat of paint. I looks that bad ,I'm not sure if some people would use it. Just how safe is it. A great shame.

This was a fabulous Victorian water lift a part of Folkestone's history. A real loss and a shame it has had to be shut due to lack of funds to repair and maintain it. Future visitors to Folkestone won't get a change to experience this...More

A great experience. A bit awkward if in a wheelchair, will need a bit of assistance, which the operators are willing and able to give, with out being asked, for which we were grateful.

Unfortunately the Leas lift has closed for the time being. They have to comply with some new health & safety rules before they are allowed to reopen. They are trying to raise funds to get the work done.
