First time I've actually been up close to the transmitting station! Always seen or passed it from a distance. Shame it was a cloudy day but got a great idea of how big it was as disappeared into the cloud! Haha!

If you want to feel sick, go stand at the bottom of it and look up at the top of it, instant vom inducing effect.

I managed to get a trip up the tower when my son-in-law won a charity raffle. We were taken up with two others and spent about 30 minutes soaking up the views. OMG it was spectacular, you can see for miles and miles. In fact the guy who took us up said that on a cold crisp day with snow... More

The highest free-standing structure in the country and I can see it from my front window (when the leaves fall). Travelling home from the South it's always a thrill to catch sight of it. And we can get a TV picture with a safety pin in the aerial socket-beat that.

Very impressive but would be much better if we could go up the mast. We parked in the carpark and looked up, that put the size into perspective.

We were out on a geocaching 17 mile Tour round the Mast by car and stopped off in the car park to visit the information board for some figures we needed for the hunt!! We can see this from Barnsley and it was good to see it close up.

We didn't get to enter the transmitting station grounds as such (only the car park) but even so, it was well worth a stop to view the station close up. It has long been a feature dominating the Huddersfield skyline so it was very interesting to examine the structure.
