English Heritage has clearly put a lot of work into restoring and maintaining this impressive 18th century house, with its ornate and gilded state rooms in the French roccoco style, and the even more impressive gardens (which the famous landscape gardener Capability Brown helped to...More

The Good: Friendly personal greeting and parking directions when approaching the house. The man is probably a volunteer. The house is interesting, with plenty of information and very helpful staff (again presumably volunteers) Some of the grounds are well kept and peaceful. Trip around gardens...More

Visited with friend and our children. Went on the fairy hunt which was fab. The chap who took us was wonderful and made it really fun. The kids loved the house, pavillion and bath house! Park was great and food and drink was good.

I don't know for sure if you can take your bikes in to the grounds but I suspect not, just walk around it is lovely in there and not so big that you would need to bike around.
