What a lovely place, where such good care is taken of these magnificent animals. Lots to see, and great grounds. We had a cup of tea and cake in the restaurant at the end of our visit. Definitely worthwhile visiting!

We love visiting the Donkey Sanctuary. Their main work is in rescuing abused animals, but what a wonderful, enjoyable, educational experience they provide for the public. Easy access for everyone young and old, and for people with mobility problems. And apart from visiting the donkeys, the shop, café, grounds and facilities are very inviting. A great few hours in delightful... More

Thanks for your lovely feedback and for mentioning that it is suitable for people with limited mobility as many of our walkways are on level ground. There is also a mobility scooter that can be borrowed from our visitors' centre if nto already booked out. More

A special free coach will take one from Sidmouth town, or there is a very large car park at the sanctuary.A good restaurant is on site. as well as a picnic area with tables etc. A video room showing various aspects of the donkey. Plus of course lots of donkeys to see and some to cuddle. There are walks for the... More

We are camping with it attached to us, we thought it was only a small sanctuary when we walked round the little part near us but even that we found highly enjoyable. We went out for a run and cut through what we thought was our part but found it to be even larger than we could ever imagine! We... More

We could have spent the day here. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. Kids enjoyed petting the donkeys and running around in the maze. Cafe was nice and clean serving teas, coffees, sandwiches and ice cream. Would definitely visit again.

This place is so lovely, they are having a new hospital built but you can still see all the donkeys and brush them in the yard etc.

We were staying on a caravan park in Dawlish Warren and I googled dog friendly activities. This place came up and as it is free entrance (though they appreciate donations), we decided to give it a try. There are lots of donkeys , all with their own stories. Some of which are really sad. There is a donkey hospital, gift... More
