A very pleasant walk around the loch which we found to be relatively easy along the north side, and a bit more difficult but nonetheless achievable on the south side due to the narrow track in places which were icy. An abundance of deer and a rare sighting of a mountain hare were a joy to see in their natural... More

Loch Muick is surrounded by the steep sides of hills, including Munros. It is possible to walk right around the loch, or use the tracks to access Lochnagar.

Remember to take coins for the car parking! Absolutely worth paying a visit to this beautiful loch. You can walk right round or start here to climb lochnagar.

This is an amazing route to walk whether you choose to simply walk round the Loch or to climb Lochnagar and drop down to the Loch from above. We normally stay the night and camp at the forest at the far side of the Loch. This provides shelter from the elements and an area to collect water if required.

Forget your worries as you navigate all the way around the loch or take a shorter option to the foreshore and back to the car park. You could easily spend all day or just a couple of hours walking round here

Walked this a couple of times, need average fitness as a couple of little bits to climb up and down but not hard at all you can do the circular walk round the loch. People run round it and great for families to walk. Not suitable for buggies ! Takes about 2 and a half hours. 8 miles approx. Take... More

Went for a trip to this Lock - quite a journey but well worth the time The only thing I would say is to remember to take some coins to "fead" into the parking meter £4 pound coins required

Thoroughly enjoyed our trip here and will for sure do so again A lot of people seemed annoyed at £4 for parking but £4 isn't a lot really is it? The location, view etc is stunning. Spectacular view here. You really can spend a good 2-4 hours here and various scenic walks, good for your dog walking too

We enjoy this walk so much that we try to squeeze it in every time we're in the area. It's a circular walk around the loch and is just under 8 miles from the car park. Scenery is fantastic with mountains surrounding the loch, deer on the hillside and, of course, the loch itself. We always walk clockwise as the... More

Took a trip here last Sunday and didn't regret the journey. An amazing walk with beautiful sights. Took us roughly 2 and a half hours to walk round at a good pace. Well worth the visit!
