This is a lovely property to visit. The front of this medieval merchant's house, built in 1509 by Thomas Paycocke, has an interesting exterior, while the interior of the house is furnished with period furniture. There are carved fireplace mantles, carved ceilings, and lots of...More

An excellent example of a 15 century merchants house.each room has been returned to close as possible original condition.lovely rear garden. Parking bit of a problem as narrow street and none on site.

Paycockes is steeped in history, with authentic restoration of many original features. The story behind the original owners and subsequent owners is painstakingly preserved for all to enjoy. The gardens are a delight to stroll round and appreciate the diversity of an english country garden....enjoy

Had a lovely time at Paycocks this year , wonderful cakes and tea. Then a stroll around the garden looking at the plants and vegetables. The building itself has a great history and is very interesting.

Very interesting property with very knowledgeable staff who take time to impart as much as you want to know. Thank you for that. The home baked deliciousness in the cafe was lovely. The garden needs time to explore properly.

If you visit the quaint old village of Coggeshall, then you must visit this ancient house. It is crammed full of interesting artifacts, documents & other such unusual things which relate to this village & the surrounding area. This place is well worth a visit.
