Colchester's distinctive heritage is nowhere more apparent than in Castle Park. A site of national importance, this Victorian Park contains evidence of 2000 years of history and is a landscape moulded by the people of Colchester over many eras.Castle Park not only encompasses much of Colchester's rich heritage within its boundaries but is much loved and used as a part of present day life. It boasts over 1 million visitors a year. Providing a green oasis in the town centre, you can sit, walk, enjoy music, play games, or picnic amongst wonderful flowers and trees. Its horticulture is award-winning and the park has long been a superb venue for the town's big events. The park itself is designated Grade II on the Register of Historic Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in England.

Set in the grounds of the castle it has lots to do for the whole family. Clearly a lot of money is spent to keep it at such a high standard. Something for Colchester to be proud of.

Castle park is an amazing cultured park in the centre of Colchester. It is lovely for a relaxing walk and picnic or play area for the children. It is sectioned into two parts via the old castle wall, one section is suitable for dog walkers. However dogs are not allowed in the upper part of the park which i understand... More

Castle park is a beautifully maintained park in Colchester city Center and in spring when the flowers are in full bloom it is very nice to walk there. It has a small pond with ducks and another with fish. Really peaceful and beautiful place to go for a walk or even a picnic.

We had a little walk around after lunch, it was very clean, all the flower beds were well kept, and the roman wall was very impressive.

Lots to keep the children amused. With a great play park and sand pit. Picnic benches available and lots of open space.

Beautiful park, so well kept, litter free, busy in the holidays but it's to be expected. Nice to take a picnic. Shame about the over priced bouncy castle in the nicer weather £3 for 5 minutes per child, a little steep. Nice play areas for the kids to use. Sand area too. Lots of history too if you're into that.... More
