Have been going here since it moved from The George many years ago. The performances are always good, the setting wonderful. Take a picnic and enjoy the grounds before the play. Have had great time even in the rain. Audience is under cover but the actors are in the open.

What a lovely place this is. Perfect for a Shakespeare play and the audience is under cover. The players give an incredible performance. Well worth a visit.

We went to see The Tempest on the last night of the season at Tolethorpe Hall. It is a fantastic location, and although The Tempest is not one of Shakespeare's most renowned plays, it is a strange and magical story, and underrated in my opinion. Prospero was portrayed brilliant and the delivery was clear and convincing. Ariel shone on stage... More

We visited on Saturday - very windy, but found some shelter in the garden for our picnic. Performance was first class and wind in trees very atmospheric - especially for the Witches, but the great thoing about Tolethorpe is the audience is under cover and protected from the elements. It's a stunning backdrop.

Visited Tolethorpe last Saturday evening to see their production of the Tempest which was a very enjoyable experience. The hall and grounds make for a wonderful setting. The production itself was extremely professional. All actors and staff at Tolethorpe deserve a round of applause .

Such a beautiful setting. Bring a picnic, it is wonderful to sit and soak in the atmosphere on the lawns before a play. It is relaxed. If you don't wish to pack one you can buy a picnic for between £15-24. The Tempest was great / the cast much appreciated. It is covered so no need to worry if it... More

A stunning production with superb acting. It is a shame this festival is not more widely promoted as we go every year and each production we have seen is worthy of the West End stag, yet is not recognised nationally and hardly ever reviewed. With better marketing it could be a Shakespearean equal to Glyndebourne.

Absolutely wonderful experience, we saw Macbeth and the wild wind blowing the trees behind the scenery really enhanced the performance. The actors were so professional, well done you were brilliant. The whole setting was beautiful I shall certainly be going back. Well worth the money.

This production was absolutely stunning, the best production that I have seen at Tolethorpe and I have seen many productions It was enchanting from the beginning to the end and all the characters that appeared along the river were absolutely wonderful! How 'Malcolm' could say he was disappointed I shall never know!! Wind in the Willows is a wonderful show... More

As other reviewers have previously stated we are extremely fortunate to have the Stamford Shakespeare company in our area. We try to attend at least one performance every year to support this little gem. The location is beautiful and if you are fortunate to have a dry, sunny evening there is nothing better than taking a picnic and enjoying a... More
