This was more interesting than I thought it would be. Lots of memorabilia. Nice little coffee/snack shop

The Redoubt Fortress is no longer a Military Museum, the Military exhibits were removed over the winter period due to the state of the fabric of the building. The fortress is still open and remains in the most original condition of the 3 fortresses that were built.

Easy to get to and on the flat right on the seafront. because of the date it was closed which was a great shame as loads of people wanting to look inside. a steady walk all the way around gives you an idea of this place and its usefulness in times of war. a Reboubt is just the French word... More

How the English fought off the French with cannon fire all round the fort. How the English lived in the fort in terrible conditions. They had to cook eat and wash in a tiny rooms with a number of other soldiers

Went here mainly for somewhere different to have a cup of tea but was tempted into the museum. It is far bigger than it appears inside with some interesting pieces and articles well laid out.

I visited the Redoubt on a sunny but cold November day. Very few other people there. The redoubt itself looked a bit unloved but the museum was worth it. Perhaps I will come back in the summer and see if more people make the Redoubt more vibrant and interesting.

After experiencing some bad customer service at a neighbouring cafe/restaurant, it was a breath of fresh air to be welcomed in for a cup of tea, tea cake and a sandwich. Nothing fancy, but a friendly girl serving us, comfy seats and mugs with moustaches on... what more could you want :-)

The redoubt is a brilliant visit. Lots to see and do, the guided tour was a little trying, a little to much information. Didnt get to see all parts of the fortress, due to lack of time after tour. Tour showed some unexpected parts of the fort! Thouroughly enjoyed visit.

If military history interests you the Redoubt is a must see structure. I was lucky to join a group tour and the guide was very interesting and knowledgeable.
