We spent a very pleasant couple of hours in the Towner Art Gallery looking at their 'A certain kind of light' exhibition, and then went on to visit the Ravilious Room which contains some delightful examples of his work. The art gallery is a modern well appointed building and has a cafe, which we didn't use. It was school half... More

Highly recommend a visit to this small gallery. They put on activities for kids too. Two gallery spaces over 2 levels and entrance is fired although a donation is suggested.

Very nicely exhibited, friendly staff, some famous pieces there such as anish Kapoor's work. Allot of children's areas full of smiling faces

The Towner has two exhibition halls that we were able to take our weekend vIsitors to when they were with us over a wet and windy weekend. One hall was pictures and the other installations involving light. Very interesting.

We loved the exhibitions but not so appreciative of bearded young man in beanie hat with tattoos ( of course) who was too idle to support his colleagues waiting on tables suggest he goes elsewhere and doesn't drive the reputation of the Towner down😄

Myself and my children enjoyed the sculpture workshop and light / mirror exhibition with artist Hermione Allsopp. Well run, accessible and free! We all had the opportunity to get creative!

OK, lets get the bad out of the way. I don't like most modern art. And the gallery has a modern art exhibition at the moment. I didn't like it. The original Towner collection, and the Ravilious collection, however are both delicious! A well displayed, inspiring, wonderful slice of history. The building is modern, with doors of Gothic proportions. What... More

Had a really nice hour or so here. They are very relaxed and welcoming to young kids so our two had a great time looking at the art and enjoying the installations. They even encourage photography which our primary- aged daughter loved as she took the photos in for Show and Tell. The activity for children to create their own... More
