Astruptunet is where the Norwegian artist Nikolai Astrup lived and worked through the latter parts of his life. Astrup is sometimes described as Munchs brighter cuisins, his paintings mainly picturing people and nature around Jølster, where Astruptunet is. A wonderful place to visit. Very interesting to see all these old houses and hear about the painter Nikolai Astrup´s history and life. He made this place, which was his home. During our breathtaking holidays by car in North-West of Norway we also visited the ASTRUPTUNET. Astruptunet is situated on the southern shores of Lake Jolster. Driving northwards from Forde, take the road to the right at Vassenden - close to Jolster hotel.
