A small museum with good presentation of material from ancient times to World War II. One can learn about the history of the town; especially the rebuilding after the war.

Guiding today, between the rain & the sun, I was able to guide in Ålesund Museum, but only outside, great views & good information. Both from World War II & development of Ålesund from1825.

Another day and another fab museum to wander about with easy access. The port is very close to the town if you are on a cruise. Take time to take a tour as the roads are amazing hairpin bends.

The museum shows a 14 minute film of the disastrous fire of 1904 which wiped out 80% of the town, and the way Europe responded to help rebuild and renew the town in 1905 and 6.

Stumbled upon this Museum on our Hop On/Hop/Off bus tour. Items from local history well displayed . They have the first enclosed lifeboat on display which you can enter . Predecessor to todays cruise ship lifeboats.
