Alesund is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, and you can get a great view from the top of Mt. Aksla. If you're concerned about the hike, there are many places to stop and sit down, and catch a breather while you're...More

Thursday 6th September, the sun was shining and we climbed the 418 steps to the top of Mount Aksla and the Fjellstua, viewing point. Mount Aksla stands approximately 188 metres high (roughly 617 feet), so not very tall but still a tiring climb up the...More

Steps are numbered to the top of this big hill so you can see how you're going (over 400 steps), but there are many places to sit down on the way. Views all the way. You can take a bus but then you miss out...More

You have to climb 450 steps to work for a wonderful view over Alesund and Norways Fjords. Every step is it worth (you may also take the tourist bus).

Most people prefer to climb up the 418 steps to this viewpoint, but I'm not allowed to hike/climb right now, so I took the easy option - I rode a bus up to the viewpoint. The view is truly amazing! The air is so fresh...More

You can get to the top of Aksla Mountain by bus, but what fun is that? The climb is advertised as 418 steps (and they're marked along the way, so you can judge your progress), but that doesn't count all the "climbing" you have to...More

There are various ways to get to the fantastic viewing area. There are public buses and tourist trolley buses as well as the energetic climb up 418 steps. However, it is well worth the effort to get up to the top of this mountain to...More
