One of the most important monuments of the Renaissance. Close to Hakon’s hall lies the Rosenkrantz Tower, which is considered to be the most important Renaissance era monument in Norway. Parts of the tower are from the 1270s, but it has been built...more

This is very interesting for several reasons. Built in the mid 16th century it is one of the most important medieval structures in Norway, thought parts of the tower are considerable older. Serving as both fort and residence it was occupied as late as the end of...More

Went there yesterday with my boyfriend. We checked opening hours online where it says you are open until 16 PM on Saturdays. We were there at 15.45 and the place was already closed. The sign at the door even says 16 PM. There was no...More

We really enjoyed our visit to Rosenkrantz Tower, in spite of the construction/maintenance going on outside during our visit. We found this place fascinating and had a great time visiting the various rooms, finding our way up and down the stone spiral staircases, and playing...More

This building was being restored when we visited, but you still received the feel of its history and its place in the history of Bergen/Norway. It is not handicap accessible and involves many steps...caution to those with mobility issues.

This takes at least 30 min to get through, probably longer in peak tourist times. Well worth a stop if you like history. It's an interesting maze of rooms and has plenty of information.

The grounds around the Tower were very nice. The inside does not have much to offer and you can't get up to the roof for a view, due to reconstruction.

Facade is under reconstruction but you can visit the tower. Narrow spiral stairs mean you have to bi fit and watch your head all the time. Arrows in the tower are not positioned precisely so sooner or later you will have no idea where you...More

Part of Bergen's core history. The tower provides an inside into the medieval past. The cold heavy rain outside provided the right context for to visit to this stark stone building. Very informative.

The entire outside was being worked on mid-September 2018; because of this we could not go outside for the great view everyone talks about. This place has a ton of rooms and it's like a maze inside - it's easy to get turned around and...More

Under cover of scaffolding, we almost walked past it! Once inside (and allowing the school group ahead of us!) it was a fascinating place. Some of the staircases were a bit of a tight climb - they definitely must have been tiny people way back...More

This site is effectively a museum these days offering an insight into the fortress' role across the centuries. Surely the most interesting is the stories of the English siege of the Dutch in the port of Bergen and the resulting battle that directly involved the...More

Our young daughter enjoyed exploring the tower. We loved the history and enjoyed walking up each level of the tower.
