They really don’t want you to come ! There’s no indication for people who don’t have car. The site only mentions that we could ride a bus in Lagunen and totally forgets to mention that there is only one bus every two hours !!! What does it cost to specify that ?

Nice museum located in Fana. By car 30 minutes or its possible to take bybanen and then bus, so trip will take around 1 hours. Here you can see very old buildings and boats and also enjoy the nature around. Quiet not crowded place.

Interesting museum in beautiful surroundings... But it lacks something. Some of the buildings were closed (did not do a guided tour) and therefore did not give us much. The houses that were opened were very nice, and the guides that gave us a taste of life in the old days did a good job. However, if you are, say, 50+? Much of this information will not be anything new. The kids and teens visiting get to try washing clothes etc the old way - but the older generations already know how this works... Hordamuseet brings together old farm buildings and boats from the Hordaland region, and is also the site of archaeological excavations of a 4th century boathouse and grave. Unfortunately there is no English guidebook or explanatory notices on the buildings or excavations, although there are guidebooks in English to the boats in the "Boat Hall" and to the Åsmund Frægdegjeva tapestry. Our guide was very friendly and helpful, as was the lady in the café. The museum is one of several museums operated by Bergen municipality, and having visited one, entrance to the others is halfprice until the end of the year.…

The Hordamusset is not located in central Bergen . You can reach it within 20 minutes by car from Bergen. The museum itself is very interesting and the guide we had was outstanding. She explained everything and we had the impression she knew everything about the old buildings ,the whole area and their history . The surroundings are very stunning at the the end of the Fana fjord .…
